Do you think that the tournment would work and have they got enough time to fit it in, It would be Brilliant New South Wales Vs Surrey would be a Good Game as would W Australia vs Mumbai or what ever

What are your views on it?

They did that, I can't remember when, 2 Australian States against Indian and other states...also I would love to see Surrey play Queensland or sommit...if it wasn't for the 24 hour plane flight...also the last time that happened, Essex and Queensland I think played but it was rained off...what a let down!

Nice idea, but there is nowhere near enough space in the schedule. Most people are talking about reducing the amount we play, not coming up with new ideas to generate more games...

But Cricket is both part of the Entertainment Industry and also the Buisness Industry. The British public have got bored of County Cricket really, not OD matches but the 4 day ones. Think about the crowds a match between District and State sides from other countries would generate...

Actually, Mumbai isn't anymore the best state side in India. Apart from Sachin and the great AA, they really don't have too many international players in their side and the local strength has been on the wane for quite some time.

Oh right...I based alot of my opinion of the mumbai squad that is used in the WCC...where they had players such as Tendulkar, Kambil, Jaffer etc

So who would be the biggest team in India now then??

Nice Idea, but not financially workable really.
It wasn't my idea...as I said it's been done before...

NSW would dominate these days
Firstly I take it this would be a OD series, in which case I would add to my case earlier about Surrey, are only a good Four Day side, I mean last year they were only in our 2 Division.

As for NSW I would probly have to agree but some other teams would probly give them a run for their money... But one major factor could be where the series was played.

only if they reduce the ammount of international cricket played....

hey lets take it further - as the Test rankings system & schedule is not accurate anyway, let's reduce the ammount of International series each nation is involved in so as to instigate the club / state comps to strengthen interest
at that level.....then get the state champions for 4 day & ODI together for a knockout series & rotate the venues each year between the hemispheres re off seasons etc - gate takings would also help out the host re domestic funding but would have to be spent re their domestic game & not international team etc.......

we could have annual knockout comps re 2 domestic forms of the game, then the WC for ODI, & do something similar every 3 - 5 years re Test matches, & do away with the ICC tourneyment & the current Test schedules.

then we can reduce the amount of Test & ODI series played each season as they would then play a secondary role to the designated comps

test series could count towards pool rankings for the tourney. Each team plays each other once trying to get an even balance between Home & Away series etc, with extra points being awarded for Away results. Finals Series could even be reduced to a top 4 qualifiers + holders & hosts. 2 Pools of 1 test each - semi finals & final series of best of 3 tests - all played over 12 - 13 weeks.

:ticking:

Each country probably has one team that features more big-name players than any other team.

NZ's is Canterbury...Bond, Cairns, Astle, McMillan, Harris, Wiseman, Chris Martin & up until 2 years ago Stephen Fleming.
+ they've got some good new guys like Michael Papps, Shannan Stewart, Brendon Donkers & Peter Fulton.

Actually in India, I think the domestic champions are the Railways'Team now. They don't have any big names and Sanjay Bangar is the only international player, I believe.

Bangar was an attacking player in Domestic Cricket . He changed his style completely after coming to England. Infact he scored his only hundred at a fast pace. It infact shows how much he wants to play for India. The Railways also have two very good spinners in Murali Kartik and Parida. They also have Harvinder Singh, Jacob Martin and JP Yadav.

It would easily come down to two teams, Surrey and NSW and NSW would win simply because they're Aussie and Surrey is English. It's just a fact of life...

I said it in a post above and will say it again... Surrey aren't a OD side, they only managed to finish 2nd in Div 2 of our Domestic One Day leauge (and according to everyone, you know how bad our domestic leauge is ment to be)..

However if it was to be a First Class game then Surrey have a very very strong side.

some people are forgetting that QLD are just as good as NSW. A full strength Qld side would look like this.

1 Matthew Hayden
2 Jimmy Maher
3 Martin Love
4 Stuart Law
5 Clinton Perren
6 Lee Carseldine
7 Wade Seccombe
8 Andy Bichel
9 Nathan Haurtiz
10 Adam Dale
11 Michael Kasprowicz

With the exception of Perren, Love and Carseldine they have all played for Australia at one time or another.
You would have to give any team with Matthew Hayden in it a chance of winning at the moment.

while QLD are good, they lack NSW in all departments except spin bowling, NSW have

M Waugh
S Waugh
M Bevan
M Clarke
S Katich

which more than accounts for Lve, Hayden, Law, Perren and Maher

and NSW with the ball would dominate, QLD have Kaspa, Haurits, Noffke and Bichel wherte NSW have McGrath, Bracken, Lee, Macgill
