He never really had a steady opening partner. Funnily enough iirc the two who opened the most innings with him (Barnes and McDonald) outperformed him iirc.

David Gower, I think he is very underrated, great against all kinds of bowling, great in Australia, subcontinent and the West Indies and so forth, very proven batter while Morris lost his consistency when England recovered from the war.
