[Narrator]The West Indies cricket team. Pride and joy of the Carribean for year upon year. Renowned around the world for it's accurate and aggressive fast bowlers and it's swashbuckling batsmen. They dominated the cricket world for years.

However, the team has fallen upon hard times of late. With their potent and deadly fast bowlers, feared and envied around the world, long gone new bowling heroes have to appear if the West Indies are to be great again. Lots of young talent is there, but they have to be nurtured correctly. One such talent is left handed wrist spinner, Dave Mohammed, who between May 2005 and March 2006, took 60 test wickets in 9 tests before strong Indian batting lineup tamed him and he took just 2 wickets in 3 tests. This is his story. We will film him for the next 12 months. This documentary is a year in his life - as told by him, Rajindra Dhanraj, Michael Holding, Liam Camps (his dealer), and a 17 year old nutcase and Dave Mohammed's stalker called Sean Bennett

[Narrator]West Indies have just lost the ODI series 3-0 to India, after also losing the 3 test series 2-0. In the test matches, Dave Mohammed took just 2 wickets whilst conceding 478 runs and in the ODI's he didn't take a wicket in any of the three games. Now is a time of reflection, and Dave isn't happy with his team mates

"It's safe to say that India aren't my favourite oppenents. I had no sort of form in the tests, but they just had to keep tossing me the ball because all of the other bowlers are crap. Bravo, Lawson and Best?!?! When I was growing up we had Ambrose and Walsh. Those were the days. And that Hinds, he got nothing but he thinks he's got it all because he takes more wickets in the one dayers than me. He keeps forgetting that he gets slogged, too. Bumbaclot..."

...cba doing that for the ODI series, too. He bowled 10-1-34-0, 10-1-35-0 and 10-0-43-0 and India won all three games

[Narrator]West Indies legend Michael Holding talked to us about the series.

"It wus always Indior's sereez. Dey arrre just too strong, especially in deir batting. Soo mach quality have dey got dere. Young Dave Mohammed was part of an attack dat was never too sharrp, and was destrroyed on de first morning of de sereez. Dey never recoverred. He booled well in de wan day sereez, never gooing at oover fourr runs purrr oover, but he rrreally needs to starrt taking wickets in the shoortah forrm of de game. Derr have been alot of good signs in 2005, this sereez proved he still needs to imprrooave, dough"

1st test vs. Zimbabwe

[Narrator]This marked the start of a test series expected to be extremely one sided. And it lived up to all expectations. West Indies won the toss and batted first, piling on the runs, with Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul scoring centuries and 18 year old debutant M Waldron, with only 8 First Class matches behind him but 3 centuries already, made an assured 50. When it came to Zimbabwe's batting, Mohammed capitalised on an early breakthrough and sent Vermeulen and Ewing back to the pavilion and Zimbabwe were shaking at 76/3. He then picked up the wicket of Hondo to ensure the follow on.
Second time around, Dave was inspired. Zimbabwe were already in trouble, thanks to Best and Bravo, before the Mohammed magic easily destroyed Zimbabwe's lower order. Went was bowled, Streak caught at short leg by Gayle. Price was bowled by a big chinaman for one. Hondo soon followed before Ferraira edged a googly to Lara at slip and the West Indies had won by an innings.

West Indies 488 (Gayle 153, Chanderpaul 144, Mohammed 3)
beat
Zimbabwe 264 (Lawson 5/67, Mohammed 21-1-62-3) and 102 (Mohammed 20.5-7-27-5)
by an innings and 122 runs

The West Indies went into the second test off the back of a crushing victory in the first test and were perhaps over confident. Their inability to bowl Zimbabwe out twice was compounded by defensive captaincy in setting the declaration so late and most of the second session of the last day being rained off. The Zimbabwean bowling attack was innocuous, but the batting was spirited in the face of West Indies' blunt attack. Tino Best led the way with some quality fast bowling, backed up by Hinds. Lawson and Bravo were both expensive in the first innings. Dave was tight but couldn't find a way through the batsmens' solid defence. With the bat Dave did a job, putting on 51 for the 8th wicket with centurion Baugh, but ultimately no team won and Zimbabwe go into the final test still with faint hopes of a drawn series.

And I won't do my accents if you don't like them :p :schmoll:

West Indies 424 (Baugh 109, Mohammed 23, Blignaut 5/100) and 340/3 dec (Lara 174*, Sarwan 106*)
drew with
Zimbabwe 282 (Mohammed 23-6-47-2) and 209/6 (Mohammed 19-5-39-0)

West Indies leads 3 test series 1-0
