Choosing a cricket bat suggestions

How to identify the quality of the bat whether it is good/decent or bad/worse,

  1. One of my friends purchased this English willow bat (Willow nurtured in Kashmir) which looks like have ~10 grains and light weight, but it shows some denting and slight chipping due to hard hitting, is this normal for a decent quality English willow bat?
  2. The grain looks like more whitish in color, but I have seen some of my other friends bats in slight brownish, is that normal or does that makes any difference in quality?
As I'm planning to purhase similar one from the same seller, appreciate some guidance or any suggestions on this, whether to go for it or avoid.

Thank you!

I'm not getting much more than that the bat you've shown is fairly old and quite used, hence the cracking. I would suspect from the dents along the edges that it might not have been knocked in properly either, and nor does it seem to be very will oiled from the greyish colour. A lack of such treatment will make cracking more likely.

I don't think if you play lower levels of cricket that the quality of that bat is anything to worry about, provided you look after it correctly.
