This is so tough. Both these guys are overrated, although I think Pujara is more, by those who fetishize a certain style of play over actual results.

Not that Alastair Cook is much better. He's the quintessential beneficiary of English Tests spam and doesn't "deserve" a knighthood (as much as one can deserve such things).

I'll still go with Cook though.

I agree that his image gets a somewhat unfair boost from tests spam but I also suspect ironically that led to an early retirement. He was fatigued and the bowling era coinciding with that finished him off.
