Cam Green

Is this guy the most over rated player currently? Here in Australia the media hype him up like his the next Botham. His got a lot of potential but he barely bowls 5 overs a match and hasn’t had many great innings so far

He would need to play 100 tests to get 100 wkts at his current rate

As for his batting, he's a walking wicket

Way over rated

He played a bad shot but he's had a good last year in Tests, especially overseas. If we listened to you lot we'd never pick and promising young cricketers because we'd throw them in the trash the moment they don't instantly perform to their potential.

Cameron Green was on 22 Tests before the Lords Test , lets see how that shapes up to some of the Games best seamer allrounders when they were on 22 Tests :

Ian Botham : 1068 runs @ 36.98 ,118 wicket@19.27

Imran Khan : 760 runs @ 23.75 , 93 wickets @ 32.52

Tony Greig : 1558 runs @ 44.51 , 51 wickets @ 35.63

Jacques Kallis : 1019 runs @30.88,
31wickets @30.35

Keith Miller : 1052 runs @ 40.46 , 60 wickets@21.23

Ben Stokes : 1340 runs @ 34.46 , 52 wickets @ 39.38

Garry Sobers (May have bowled spin)
1971 runs @ 63.58 , 25 wickets @ 49.44

Cameron Green : 1038 runs @ 35.79 , 26 wickets @ 34.27

His batting isn't far away from the greats , underbowled though ..

Green played a really poor shot today but he's an outstanding prospect.

However, he's only 24 and he's already having to manage his bowling workload, which is a major concern.

He'll play in all formats for Aus and will be in demand from franchises around the world.

If he's not careful he'll end up being a batsmen who bowls a few overs here and there rather than the best all rounder Australia have had in a generation or more.

finally a sensible post. all rounders take time to develop because they have two disciplines to master

he doesn’t have to play for random franchises around the world when they don’t pay that much compared to being the poster boy for Australia with a central contract and all the perks with it

Thank you. It’s a very promising start . I hope the lad succeeds . Be interesting though , how he copes if playing franchise and all formats for Australia
he doesn’t need to play any franchise cricket other than ipl and 1 other league if he wants some extra cash where he can control his workload as he wishes to. its the all format cricket of being an all rounder for Australia that will burden him the most but they have done well to manage their main player workloads recently

He maybe tempted post this series with nipping over to have a payday in the USA

doubt it though but money talks

as i did say doubt they pay much compared to his overall earning from central contracts and his annual ipl payday. even if he does go there for few matches he can control his workload, any of those teams wont mind having him as a pure batsman
