Some six hits are legendary, others win matches, others you quickly forget about.

What is, a) the BIGGEST six you have ever seen, and b) the most LEGENGARY six you have ever seen (or heard of)?

Fire away chaps.

For me, the biggest I have ever seen is either one of Astle's during his 222, or Cairns' hit out of the ground at the 1999 W.C. vs. Australia.

The most legendary is perhaps Miandad's six to win a match in the mid-80s? I have only read about it and saw it on Youtube, but that sh*t is pretty legendary.

Biggest has to be Afridi vs Symonds at Perth in 2004-2005

Mark Waugh lobbed an on-drive off Vettori onto the roof of the Lillee-Marsh stand at the WACA - le massive. Probably the biggest six I've seen, bt I only saw it on TV.

Joel Garner hit the clock tower on the Members' Pavilion at the SCG one time.

Saw Kim Hughes hit Bishen Bedi into the top tier of the Ladies Stand one day in 1977 as well.

Yeah that's right. Hit one into the practice nets iirc. Not sure if it cleared the grandstand or went between them.

Some of his sixes in England in 05 were enormous as well.

Not quite on the same level as Miandad's, but a phenomenal piece of batting none the less.
Funny how Afridi’s rather conventional hit is regarded as a slog but Brendon Taylor’s legsided dictated heave into cow corner is somehow a phenomenal piece of batting...

I think he was referring to the whole over

And? Taylor’s hitting did not change throughout that over; his stroke player was quintessentially slogging. I could not give a flying fart how Taylor scored his runs, he side needed to win. However, I was just slightly confused how someone could ridicule Afridi's effort yet waxes lyrical over Taylor's hitting, which was aesthetically far worse.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

To me Afridi's shot was like a perfect golf swing. He seemed to time it to perfection. 100%. I don't think anyone could've hit the ball better.

I was actually referring to Afridi as a player, I wonder how many times he has tried that shot only to drag the ball onto his stumps or top edge a catch to a fielder? Granted that Taylor's shot was a far bigger slog than Afridi, I'm not disputing that. He got the runs to power his team to a very unlikely victory, and that is what counts.

There were a few big sixes in the recent India-South Africa series (or maybe it was India-Ireland). One that landed outside the ground in a lake somewhere, I believe. Don't remember who it was, but I would presume that it was Dhoni.

Also, one six that stands out in my mind is in the 2003 world cup match India vs England. Caddick bowling to Tendulkar and Tendulkar pulled him out of the stadium in Durban.

And I guess I shouldn't mention Balaji vs. Shoaib Akhtar. ;)

Afridi's against Symonds was a monster, and so was one that Lee hit in the 2005 Ashes, out of Edgbaston IIRC.

For legendary status: Dion Nash's six off Donald in 1998,
Klusener's six off Nash when four were required off the last ball at Napier in 1998
