Plus he ran out Bruce Reid in that famous ODI win at Hobart. Believe he had a pretty strong moustache at the time too. Gotta be Young.I saw his 267 vs Sri Lanka and loved the way he put the ball in his pocket, so Bryan.
More relevantly, who's the taller of the two TH?Believe he had a pretty strong moustache at the time too. Gotta be Young.
Ex-keepers usually make good slip fielders (Latham is pretty good). Taylor took a lot of slip catches but missed a few. Coney was great in the 80s to Hadlee, and Fleming had bucket hands - don't remember him dropping too many. Southee is very good for a big seam bowler.Young has a claim on being NZ's best slip fielder too, though Ramps was a decent point.
Yeah picked as a keeper ahead of Ian Smith. I was too young to know if that was controversial at the time.Plus he ran out Bruce Reid in that famous ODI win at Hobart. Believe he had a pretty strong moustache at the time too. Gotta be Young.
Ramps took a belter of a catch in the Melbourne 98 fourth innings heist. Might've been Langer he caught.Young has a claim on being NZ's best slip fielder too, though Ramps was a decent point.
Young had replaced Smith who suffered an injury early in the World Series so it wasn't controversial that he was playing that particular game. It did become somewhat controversial when he was retained for the finals when Smith was fit. Young's batting in that game though was also a major part of the win so it was a fair call by the selectors (Smith returned later for the home internationals). I was a big fan of Young as a result of that game and thrilled when he established himself in the side later as an opener.Yeah picked as a keeper ahead of Ian Smith.
