Which was the highest quality Test hatrick, main factor (but not only) would be the quality of the batsmen dismissed IMO

limited to last 30 years because I don't know anything but feel free to add your own @trundler

Damien Fleming for me , did it in Rawalpindi one of the flattest decks ever where 19 different bowlers were used to try and force a result . It was on his test debut aswell, only three bowlers have taken a Test hattrick on debut , Maurice Allom in 1929 for England v New Zealand and Peter Petherick for NZ in 1976 vs Pakistan. Sadly Allom and Petherick are both late so Fleming is the only person alive right now that can say they took a hattrick on debut.

Also Saleem Malik was out on a double hundred so he was in , Aamer Malik out on 65 and Inzamam a first baller so great variety of scores to get a hattrick , very unusual .

McGrath’s. The three balls were all so different and were precisely where you’d want to bowl to expose the weakness of the respective batsmen.

Cork’s hat trick is the earliest one I remember, Richie Richardson, Junior Murray and Carl Hooper. 1995.
The first one I remember is Gough's one in the Ashes a couple of years after that.

Well said!!

Malik had an incredible 3 test series with other scores of 75 & 143 and Fleming then bags him for the hat trick whilst he's on 237 to do so.

I was there for Gough’s hat trick. Still the best day of test cricket I’ve been to. 300 runs, 10 wickets, a ton, a 90 and a hat trick to close out the day in front of a packed house. Atmosphere was amazing when he got it. Crowd went beserk.

Always loved Warnies despite it being against tail enders. The amazing commentary probably helps
