Best Ever Bangladesh Test Innings

So I'm currently watching Liton Das putting up a heroic knock.

Came in at 26/5, soon 26/6, got injured when on 80*, they lost the last real bat and another when he's on 83*. Since then he's hit 53 of a 66 run paetnership and is still going, all to get his side up to parity in a live overseas test where they could be winning a series against major opposition for the first time in their history.

So, is this the best innnings in Bangladesh's quarter century of Test matches?

A quick perusal of the stats suggest that Mushfiqur Rahim probably has the most alternative claims, with three of his nation's five double centuries and a match-turning 191 in the previous test match in Rawalpindi.

Shakib Al Hasan's 217 in Wellington is their highest score by a long way outside Asia, and the second best is Rahim again on the same day. That was still in a game they lost, though. Shakib's 116 in Colombo later that year should get a mention for cornerstoning one of Bangladesh's best ever Test wins.

I'm far from a Bangladesh connoisseur though, so over to you.

I guess if you were being hypercritical, that he shared the 7th wicket partnership pretty evenly with Mehidy might go against it, but then he scored another 50+ on his own with the remaining tail enders to get near to parity.

Not sure, but I feel Ashraful might have a legit claim. IMO he's produced their two best ODI innings, back to back in 05 vs Aus and England
Ashraful was such an aesthetically glorious bat, every single century (of which there were not many) was a gem.

I think this Liton one is probably the best one I can remember given the conditions and the pressure, but you probably need to go with the one he scored to beat New Zealand given it won us a match against quality opposition away from home.

What do you think is Mushfiqur Rahim's best innings? He has most of Bangladesh's highest scores.

He's got them all on absolute roads really, but the one last week was the best because it won us a test match against good opposition.

To be fair, the overwhelming majority of double tons or high 100s are probably on roads. He's played on some pretty special roads though.

The idea of having the teams' best two innings ever in back to back tests is great

I've always had a soft spot for Tamim's two centuries in England in 2010. They didn't mean much as far as the match results were concerned, but they were a joy to watch.

Shakib's knock in the first innings and Tamim's (in both) in this test were superb, considering the attack and the context of their partnership.

Shakib also got 10 wickets in that match, all things considered an absolutely quality cricketer.

Yeah they were wonderful innings. You couldn't bowl anywhere to him the way he was playing, he was putting good length balls through cover for four.

Has to be the Liton innings - the skill, the assuredness, the mental fortitude, the context. I feel this will have the impact on Bangladesh that the VVS 281 had on India.
