Baseball Draft

Magrat Garlick

Rather Mad Witch
Ed Walsh Sr. (1881-1959, SP)

Would probably have to unlearn the spitter, but still, best career ERA not to be sniffed at.

The ideal lead-off hitter, Ichiro Suzuki gets hits, steals bases, scores runs, and fields like a gun. He's going to play RF, moving Babe to left, and will lead off my lineup:

Ichiro Suzuki (RF)
Nap Lajoie (2B)
Joe DiMaggio (CF)
Babe Ruth (LF)
Albert Pujols (1B)
Barry Larkin (SS)

Sandy Koufax (SP)
Roger Clemens (SP)
Steve Carlton (SP)

Yeah, we do have Babe Ruth protecting Joe DiMaggio and Pujols protecting the Babe, as well as two of the best OBP guys in the top two spots (and Pujols is a great OBP guy too!) We still need some pitching help, but with a lineup like that, we're not going to struggle for runs!

Meh, it does now, because he's like 50, but it used to be OK. He's really not a ML-standard SS anymore.

A-Rod's SS defense blows.
I would have to strongly disagree. I thought A-Fraud was one of the best defensive shortstop in the game. And now he's turned into a great third baseman as well. Steroids or not, he's an outstanding athelete.

I'll make my picks later today.

Bob Feller (SP). One of the hardest throwing pitchers in history! A triple crown winner who led the league in in wins six times, led in strikeouts seven times, and pitched three no-hitters. He would've finished his career with over 350 wins and 3000 strikeouts if not for WW2.

Dennis Eckersley (CL). I would say the game's second greatest closer after Rivera. Much like Warne did for his art, Eckersley popularized the closer's role and after his success it was almost unheard of for a good team not to have a dominant closer. One of only two closers to win the Cy Young award.

Fusion's team:

1B Jimmie Foxx
2B Eddie Collins
SS Ernie Banks
LF Barry Bonds
CF Tris Speaker

SP Walter Johnson
SP Cy Young
SP Bob Gibson
SP Bob Feller
CL Dennis Eckersley
