1. Gilchrist has a better chance to get into an all time great team compared to Lara

2. If I have to choose only one in an average team, I would obviously pick one of the greatest batsmen of all time Brian Charles Lara
1. Doesn't matters in this discussion

2. Is everything here.

Gilly up the order cant be assured of the same runs.
Oh Gilly up the order tonned up in SL, playing one down. He was sent out to counter early movement byVaas and Zoysa. Gilly is one of the best players of pace in the current history.

No disrespect to the great man, Gilly was ****ing amazing.

But what made Gilly, well Gilly, was that he was the cheat code at 7 behind the greatest batting line up of all time, in the flattest era since the 40's.

His keeping was really good, but I wouldn't pretend I haven't seen better. His value was the final piece in a juggernaut.

None of that takes away he's the best full time keepers batsman, with competition really only from Knott, and that depends what you're looking for.
