Not sure any surface was as helpful as what he got at Perth that series to be honest.Ambrose, less helpful surfaces, a less reinforced seam for the ball back then and imo a stronger batting lineup when form is taken into account.

Ok it balances a bit but I recall even Adelaide in that series was quite bowling friendly. I agree with the rest of your comments.Sydney
Bumrah didn't even bowl at SydneySydney
Yeah he missed the best bowling wicket of the series ffs.Bumrah didn't even bowl at Sydney
Blame Nohit.Yeah he missed the best bowling wicket of the series ffs.
I had a bet on my cricket group before the series started that Bumrah would break the record for a pacer with the most wickets in an away test series (5 match), the guy was 3 wkts away from it.
Would have been the greatest prediction ever.
You don’t count Tate or Barnes as pacers then?Yeah he missed the best bowling wicket of the series ffs.

No doubt. But both series were fairly bowling friendly. Like Perth in 93 was made for Ambrose to destroy lineups on.2024 BGT Perth day 1 is one of most bolwing friendly pitch ever View attachment 46441
Statsguru doesn't, and the bet was based upon that. You don’t count Tate or Barnes as pacers then?
iirc it does for Barnes. Though I guess technically he only played 4 gamesStatsguru doesn't, and the bet was based upon that.
It does you're right. I remember checking though and Barnes 13/14 wasn't there. Maybe we had a time filter too, although I don't recall one.iirc it does for Barnes. Though I guess technically he only played 4 games
Bumrah on can argue was more consistently excellent whereas Ambrose had two awesome matchwinners there that took the series.Ambrose bowled to better batsmen presumably. Otherwise, hard to separate the two.
