Flower's XI on the march

The Flower's XI progressed their championship march today, crushing Pollock's XI by 182 runs. In a massive turn around, Flower's side posted a massive 7/492 declared to seal the victory. Man of the Match B.Dale said it was an incredible win for the team, after being out for 206 in the first innings and then conceeding 41 extras when Pollock's side went in. But Dale's second innings 143*, described by captain P. Marsden as the greatest knock he'd ever seen, carried the side to another victory for new manager DJellett. After coaching 3 games with the side, DJellett has witnessed 2 big 4 day wins and a great 1 day win.
He credits the side's sucess to the balanced line-up. "While players such as P. Marsden are regular contributors, there is always another standout performance by one, or several of the young players" he said in the post match press conference.
Captain Marsden, who struggled with scores of 2 and 20, denied that his failures were because of his newly aqquired captaincy.

SOBERS XI 22pts beat BRADMAN XI 7pts by 7 wickets
Man of the match is D Currie

Great win by the Sobers XI! Good Bowling from Roberts, Jones and Olney in the First Innings but pretty poor from all the others. Solid batting by the Middle order with Currie scoring a well deserved century. Exellent Bowling in the second innings by all bowlers and steady batting from the top order with the captain Roberts(Exellent rookie!) and the veteran Carlisle bringing home the points. Top of the table. Now need to win to keep poistion.

Gavaskar's XI plunge to 5th Loss

Another dissapointing loss ensured that new manager Dark Hunter would have a lot of work on his hands. A first innings total of 210 was dominated by a century from H.Kulatunga, who was last man out for 114. Some tight bowling in Botham XI's first innings by Smethurst (4/48) and Sharkey (3/50) gave Gavaskar's XI hope of a much needed victory. While Kulatunga couldn't add to his first innings total, A century to Z.Marshall (133) saw Gavaskar's XI at 4/259, But with Marshall's wicket they lost 6/29 and the pressure was back on the bowlers. But they could not deliver and Botham's XI stormed to a 6 wicket victory.

Border XI manager has described his team as a Yoyo, up and down each week. Last week we won by over an innings, this week we lose by over an innings. Its inconsistancy at its worst form.

We wern't disgraced with totals of 323 and 271, Its just Hadlee batting lineup showed pure class and made mince meat of our bowlers. Scoring an amazing 598/8 declared.

Gratrix put in 2 very solid batting performances of 58 and 64. Cole managed yet another 50, which helped us to nearly save ourselfs from total disgrace of being beaten by over a innings, however we fell 4 runs short.

Team managment are still in shock, and some heads could be on the chopping block for the upcoming 4day match against the Imran Khan XI.

We can only look forward to our upcoming game and hope for a better result.
