A tool or a gentleman?

who do you enjoy more as a cricketer. An Akhtar and a Kohli or a Mr Nice Guy aka Dranvid and Younis.

Ofcourse we are assuming both are quality cricketers nobody likes to see Faisal Iqbal sledging KP after getting LBW for zero by Collingwood.

It's the combination that gets me - the tool vs. the gentleman, especially when the tool is a quick bowler and the gentleman is really, really hard to get out (Akhtar vs. Dravid).

Of course any tool playing for NZ automatically becomes my favourite (Southee, Ryder).

As a player, the tool. As a bloke, the gentlemen.

If the tool is on my team I want him to do well, if he's playing for the opposition I want him to drown in his own hubris. If the gentleman is playing for the opposition I want him to do well regardless.

Support the gentlemen all the way. Would rather have seen Dravid do well in the last series than Haddin ITBT. Should **** off and let Nev keep for Easts/NSW/Australia.

Originally liked Phil Hughes, then found out he was a ****. Now I'll gladly watch him nick to slip all day.

I like both tbh. It varies from player to player though. For example I like some who are tools and dislike others.

I like the gentleman despite which team he is playing for but only like the tool if he is playing for my team (there are too many already in Pakistan :p)

Yeah, this is more or less my attitude to things as well. Tend to only like tools if they are amusing/good as well. If you're a tool and have neither of these redeeming features then you're more likely to be contemptible rather than anything else.

Are those our only choices?

The instict is to go for the gent, but often you find the tool is in fact a nutjob while the gentleman is a dullard, in which case I'll take the tool.

I love the tools that play for Pakistan.I absolutely loathe the ones in the opposition however.

The gentleman for me. Dravid is the epitome of everything that's good about sport; never gives an inch but goes about it with a manly, decorous class.

I have time for what our Australian brethren call the "larrikin"; the Warne or the Afridi, but actual tools leave me cold.

Thank God that Pakistan have two gentleman in the form of Misbah and Younis. Hopefully they will rub off on the youngsters.

I like a player who plays with his heart on his sleeve. Watson, Broad, Kohli etc all come under that category and it makes them good to watch.
