I think all those player comparison threads involving him need to be deemed void and rerun in light of this new information. If only Tendulker scored those 7 runs more he could have been considered an ATG

We do need a new Tendulkar vs Lara comparison in light of this imo.I think all those player comparison threads involving him need to be deemed void and rerun in light of this new information.
Surprisingly Mark Taylor also has 6 x 400+ runs in a Test series.Lara has most 400+ run series with 11, while Bradman and Gavaskar have 10 and Sobers 9.
For 400-499 run series only:
Chanderpaul, Dravid, Hutton, Pietersen, Root and Sangakarra have 5
Gooch, Gower and Hayden have 6
Tendulker has most with 7
I was listing 400-499 run series in the post you quoted, so Taylor only has 4 like quite a lot of othersSurprisingly Mark Taylor also has 6 x 400+ runs in a Test series.
He did play in 74 Test series. He made 29 x 250+ runs in a series.I would bet that SRT has the most 250+ series.
Lol Bradman what a hackHe did play in 74 Test series. He made 29 x 250+ runs in a series.
Lara made 22 x 250 runs in a series. He played in 39 Test series.
Bradman played in 11 Test series. He scored 250+ runs in a Test series 11 times.
He got close there too, just 4 runs short. Similar to his final innings. Missed the first match and got out wildly in the last to Verity.Only a 91% success rate for Bradman. Pretty pathetic. Thanks Jardine.
Doing a slight injustice to Bradman there. He played in 11 series and he scored 396+ runs in all 11 series (not 250+)Bradman played in 11 Test series. He scored 250+ runs in a Test series 11 times.
Most instances of 25 wickets in a series:Based on just rough numbers, 500 in a series should be equivalent to ~25 wickets in a series, if anyone is interested in that.
Quite an underrated player imo. Most instances of 25 wickets in a series:
7: R Ashwin
6: M Muralitharan, SK Warne
5: CEL Ambrose, J Garner, CV Grimmett, MD Marshall, CA Walsh
4: Kapil Dev, DK Lillee, GD McGrath, WJ O'Reilly
3: SF Barnes, BS Bedi, AV Bedser, R Benaud, AK Davidson, CJ McDermott, HJ Tayfield, FS Trueman
Barnes, Bedser, Grimmett, McDermott, McGrath and Warne each achieved 30w 3 times. Terry Alderman (42 & 41) is the only player to take 35 wickets in a series twice.
The only players to have achieved both appear to be Aubrey Faulkner (2 x 500r, 1 x 25w) and Vinoo Mankad (1 x 500r, 2 x 25w). Faulkner achieved both in the same series.
Another near miss for me, purely based on the form he was in, was the 2005 home series vs South Africa. Lara scored back to back mammoth 100s and was going into his favorite hunting ground (the ARG) for the last test. He surprisingly failed and on the same wicket that WI piled up 700 runs.5 of the 7 times Lara scored 500+ runs in a series, he did it in a Test series with 4 matches or less (and 6 of the 7 times, he batted 8 innings or less in the series - basically equivalent of batting in 4 matches).
And the one time when he batted more than 8 innings in a series where he scored 500+ runs, he scored 765 runs in 10 innings in that series.
Also, more impressively, so far Lara seems to be the only guy in the #500runclub , who has had a 500+ run series in 4 different countries (or continents) - in South Africa, in England, in Sri Lanka and multiple times at home in the West Indies.
Notable near misses for Lara are in Australia (by 34 runs - best was 466 runs in 8 innings) and in Pakistan (by 52 runs - best was 448 runs in 5 innings).
Haha yet again, Ian Healey cost lara those 36 runs in 1992. Claimed a stumping when yet again, he didn't have the ball in his glove. Lara was on 58 and bossing the Aussie attack. Then there was the bump catch in the 4th test with Lara in 52.5 of the 7 times Lara scored 500+ runs in a series, he did it in a Test series with 4 matches or less (and 6 of the 7 times, he batted 8 innings or less in the series - basically equivalent of batting in 4 matches).
