Great call by Mashrafe at the toss to bowl first. Fantastic captaincy to keep the powerful WI batting to just 320 on what was clearly a 400+ pitch. Lead from the front with the ball. Excellent leadership, and if BD make the semis or further this WC it will be entirely to him and him alone
now now, are you trying anti-Tec?

Speaking of captaincy - Holder was missing for that whole second innings wasn't he? Couldn't pick the team up once they began to flag. You've got seniors like Gayle and Russell around, and they were no presence either. If anything Russell was a negative with all his limping and wanting to get off the field. The lack of experience was really showing in this side today. They just had no one to turn to that could deliver when they were under the pump.

Congrats Bangladesh. See off Starc and Cummins and a win v Australia would reignite this CWC. Australia and NZ look a bit vulnerable for the semis - we need wins against SA and WI to settle the nerves.

the washout v Lanka will haunt them as that was a match they were favs in.

Sadly think they will need a win v Australia or India,,,,India loath losing to their little brother and look clinical,,going to have to beat Australia to qualify.

Think they should be fine v Afghans,,,Pakistan? Better side than them,,,but its Pakistan so who the **** knows.

Holy smokes Bangladesh!!!! Congrats @*****. Pretty sure Bagladesh will be much more tough for us to beat compared to Pakistan.

This Liton Das dude could hardly get the bat on ball until that 100 in Asia cup final. Is he the same guy who was hated on for a string of failures?

That was some partnership.

I wonder if we'll look back and discover that the final semi-final spot was decided when Mushfiqur butchered that run-out against NZ.

That was a paddling. Unfortunately the Windies just started to look like what they really are, a bunch of talented blokes who aren't really a unit. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Holder couldn't rally them at all.

Should Russell even be playing at this point? I know he's immensely talented, and still has the capability to break a game open by thrashing 70 off 30, but he looks like he's bowling at only about 75%, and I'm really not sure the Windies can afford to carry that as one of their front line bowling options.

Yup, if they'd beaten SRL (and they would have) then they'd now be well placed to finish the group phase with 5 wins, and all they'd need would be NZ to trip up against either SA or Pakistan to be in the running.

Still a great effort from them. When I went to bed Hetmyer was smashing it and 350+ looked on the cards. There fielding was also really clinical in the manner you expect of the top sides, which really sets them apart from the likes of Pakistan, SA and WI.

That's incredible, and I'm guessing the short ball strategy didn't work.

From what turned out to be is last stint with the Sydney Thunder a few years a go: when Russell's not fit, he's crap and not worth it.

I see my thread yesterday was read by Shakib and co. Crazy chasing down that total with overs to spare.

Boy did Windies bowl total SHEEEEET. Why are they playing Gabriel instead of Roach??? If Gabriel took the catch to get rid of Shakib Windies had a great chance to win!

You really are a miserable ****
How are you only realising this now?

Great win for the Bangers. Top stuff. Windies done and dusted and it sounds from the comments in here they were awful. It really seems to be two steps forward and one back for them since the late 90s tbh.

Heh, I remember seeing Liton Das' stats on the big screen after the Mushfiqur wicket, with that 20 average, and thinking how ****ed Bangladesh were. Bloke played a monster of an innings. Major props to Shakib though. Das just rode the momentum that he created.

Shakib is great and this thread was an amusing read with all the Bangladesh criticism up to the half way point. Critical moment that Shakib skyer when he was on 50 odd - might escape being called a drop as noone got a hand on it, but think the fielder coming in should really have got there and taken it.
