    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

Let me just say that Greg Chappell and Dennis Lillee are in my Aussie ATG XI (Smith is not)

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

My first test series watched was 1978/79 WSC depleted Ashes but I've tried to wipe that from my memory (although Kim Hughes, Allan Border and Rodney Hogg were pretty good) 😉

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

Watching cricket in 1979/80 Dennis Lillee was ranked the best Australian pace bowler ever, while Greg Chappell was ranked the 2nd best bat after Bradman. Nothing I've seen since changes my thoughts on that, so Chappell/Lillee is my pick (maybe Ponting/McGrath might have been close if an option)

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

So taking 17 more wkts than the next best bowler Roberts with only 1 match difference is not a stand out. Got it, as number of wkts obviously doesn't matter
  6. Q

Which was the greater WI Pace Quartet ?

Well since Marshall was the best bowler of the 2nd quartet but wasn't good enough to become a permanent member of the 1st quartet, I'll take the 1st 4 😉
  7. Q

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

Really, luffy is very clearly saying it
  8. Q

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

Well I saw them all live. Wpm seems to be very underrated on here. Hadlee and Lillee are so far ahead of any other pace bowler since WW1, but it seems to be totally ignored. Have you not heard you need 20 wkts to win matches
  9. Q

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

I find it amazing how history has been re-written using some statistical measure. There were 2 kings of cricket in WSC and the following 1979/80 reunification series, Viv Richards and Dennis Lillee. Greg Chappell and Michael Holding were great challengers for the crown but it was very clear who...

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

Really? Lillee took more wkts than anyone in WSC, 67 wkts in 14 Supertests (4.8 wpm). Roberts took 50 wkts in 13 (3.8 wm) and Holding 35 wkts in 9 (3.9 wpm). An extra wkt per match above the next best sounds like a standout to me?
  11. Q

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

That's funny since Lillee was clearly the stand out best bowler in WSC

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Hmmm, this game SA made 4/415 after 100 overs while Qld made 7/356. That means SA would have won the Shield with this boring game as they got 2.85 bonus points to Qld's 1.96 😞
  13. Q

    Cummins/Smith vs Lillee/Chappell vs Warne/Ponting

Do you not know Lillee played only one test in West Indies where he needed constant medical attention to stay on the field. This is the Test he broke his back and it was thought he'd never play cricket again. I don't see how that makes "Lillee was mid in WI"

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Yeah it updated about 10 minutes after your post (I thought it funny it showed game completed but didn't give Vics 6 points for the win)
  15. Q

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Vics finished 3rd ahead of NSW in 4th, with Tas 5th and WA last Haha Vics suck at bonus points as they have 4 wins to Qld's 3 but are 0.27 points behind. That means if they scored only 28 more runs in just one of their 10 first innings of bonus points they'd be in the final

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Congrats Qld to be in the Shield final. Now all we need is for Khawaja to decide it's worth playing a game and for SA to do something about the road of a pitch at Karen Rolton Oval
  17. Q

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Yeah, turned out to be a perfectly timed declaration although only 3 overs left when last wkt fell
  18. Q

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Joel Paris must be one of the most unlucky cricketers ever to not play for Australia. A bowling average under 20 and a really good lower order bat And he gets out as I type, a well played 45
  19. Q

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Yep, Tas 3 runs from being in the Shield final (and they lost because of a run out)
  20. Q

    2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

Tough comp this Shield is. If WA win they play in the Shield final, if they lose they get the wooden spoon
