Aus XI vs Eng XI pre 1970

England’s team is pretty ridiculous. Australia has Bradman, England has pretty much everything else in their favour. I would probably think of Verity instead of Laker tbh. If England can slow down Bradman even the slightest I don’t see them losing.

    Kapil Dev vs Alec Bedser

And some People will have you say Barnes wouldn’t have survived later eras just because he retired from internationals Pre- War.

    Kapil Dev vs Alec Bedser

Kapil very slightly ahead as a cricketer thanks to his batting. Bedser ofc the better bowler.

    Kapil Dev vs Alec Bedser

As a cricketer? Kapil (close) As a bowler? Bedser

How much would a batsmen need to average to overtake Bradman?

The story seems too unreal to be true. And even if Hollies did that it was probably one of the things he was saying randomly that came true. If he could knock over Bradman that easily, he wouldn’t have played just 13 tests and averaged over 30 in those 13 matches.

    Aus 2000 vs Eng 1950s

I was thinking both teams would have some time to prepare rather than play direct match. Say a year ish. Warne would be a threat but nowhere close to be near unplayable. Laker in England is one of the best bowlers ever. The Australian batting lineup was totally dominated by Harbhajan. Laker is...

    Aus 2000 vs Eng 1950s

Warne didn’t invent or do anything new. He was great but flipped came decades before him. He had his problems agianst India and didn’t do that much in West Indies either. Warne vs Hutton and I can bet Warne would face lot more problems than Hutton. Barrington had no problems against spin and...

    Aus 2000 vs Eng 1950s

Warne would have a very tough time bowling to Hutton. Compton, Barrington etc. too. This is not a crap batting lineup of England which had no clue against a spinner. Laker in England probably a bigger threat than Warne.

Jack Hobbs (Post-War) vs Herbert Sutcliffe

I knew that but that’s still lot young compare to Hobbs. Hobbs would have been around 39 iirc at the 1921 when cricket began. He was way past his peak.

Jack Hobbs (Post-War) vs Herbert Sutcliffe

I’ll say Sutcliffe. The old man was past his peak at this context. Still one of the 15-20 best batsman ever after War. Sutcliffe on the other hand was young, fresh guy coming up to be the finest batsman in the world. I have Sutcliffe no.10 (9) not counting Pre-War Hobbs. Post War Hobbs would be...

    Viv Richards vs Sydney Barnes

Barnes. Probably the best bowler to have ever walked the earth.
  12. P

    Sydney Barnes vs Ray Lindwall

Easy. Ofc Barnes. Lindwall probably the 3rd best bowler ever when he retired. Barnes, O’Reilly ofc very very clearly the first 2.

Prime McGrath Vs Prime Steve Smith

Peak Smith from those years 2014-2019 was the best batsman the world had ever seen, probably the highest level any batsman/ bowler had ever reached bar Bradman. He just look so far ahead of the pack. Peak Kohli was very incredible and Smith was so far ahead. I will be very surprised if anyone...

Prime McGrath Vs Prime Steve Smith

In that case The 20 Greatest peaks of all time would feature 1 Batsman ( Bradman) and 19 bowlers. Peak Smith is easily ahead of Peak McGrath. Idk how this is even.

Barnes 1912 Sa series Vs Hadlee 1985 Aus Series

I meant Peak Barnes in 1950s,1970s,80s or any era basically. Ofc Barnes did slow down when he was 50 years of age and later. But he could still bowl.
  16. P

Barnes 1912 Sa series Vs Hadlee 1985 Aus Series

Peak Bedser was averaging like 19-20. Barnes was so far ahead of Bedser, it’s not even debatable. Barnes would have run havoc in 50s, dare I say well into 70s,80s etc. No one doubts how good Peak Alec Bedser would have been in 70s,80s, Barnes was a better bowler by far. Imagine someone like...
