    Yeah he's got pace and bowls a heavy enough ball. Accuracy and guile were the question marks against him but he has started well in tests.

    I think Carse is our best bet to rough people up. Kane, Mitchell and Blundell decent players of pace though Blundell is obviously in poor form.

    England cricket are an absolute joke still picking Chris Woakes away from home. The odd 25 never justified 2-150 but there isn't any need whatsoever when Atkinson is arguably a better batsman than him nowadays and Carse is a very good no9. An unserious organisation.

    The management clearly don't believe in conventions and specialist roles to the extent of going unnecessarily radical. I suspect Root offered to bat 3 but Stokes definitely isn't interested in that while he wants to bowl.

    Generally not a fan of that idea because he's a slow starter but that problem is reduced by Carse batting at 10 which is insane depth. I guess Pope has a much better chance at 6 than 3 and he's probably more likely to score than Cox was. But Bethell at 3 is, well, and we really need a proper...
