New Zealand 30 man World Cup Squad.

I thought Nathan McCullum was one of the very few players to come out of the India series with any credit at all - he showed some real mongrel, was awesome with the bat and was good opening the bowling in the last game. Three seamers is enough when Mills and Oram are bowling well, more than...

Is Vettori's ineffectiveness a problem for NZ?

I am of the Vettori generation - can't remember watching cricket when he wasn't in the team. It'll be strange when he finally goes (though I was more attached to Fleming). That said, he's only 31. He seems to want to give up the captaincy early, but I hope he's got a good 5 more years as a...

*Official* New Zealand in India 2010

I'm just glad that this is the 3rd test, not the 1st, and the whole series will still be semi-respectable at 1-0. That said, we haven't lost this game yet, I'll still be watching.

    Kane Williamson

Vettori only needs two more centuries to be 5th-equal of all time with Glenn Turner, that's how few good batsmen we've ever had. Early stages, but Ryder has the best record of them all so far, comfortably. (apart from Dempster who played ten tests in the 30s)

    Best ever ODI bowler

Mostly short-sightedness and the inability to wear contacts.

    Sorry. Respect to you, man.

    Kane Williamson

He wrote Octopus's Garden! There was a genius lurking, maybe!
  9. ringo16

    Kane Williamson

Searching for and linking specific examples of how you've won other arguments on the internet is usually the sure sign of a true genius, I find.

    Best ever ODI bowler

Has to be Kyle Mills. Regularly topped the ODI rankings while most of those guys were still playing. Seriously, find it funny that nobody's mentioned Vettori. What are you guys taking into account for ODI bowlers exactly?

    Australia to cancel bangladesh again

This is a dumb circular statement, because any team losing to Bangladesh has 'lost the plot' in that game, just because they lost to Bangladesh. I don't remember anybody predicting any of their wins, except that weak WI team that toured once.

    Kane Williamson

I like how T Mac keeps it simple, either a duck or a decent long innings. None of this arsing around and then hitting to the cover fielder on 20 like Taylor.

    Kane Williamson

A boy from NZ does not generate world-wide hype, no matter who he is. Had you heard of Shane Bond before he came to Australia? Or any Black Caps? (You might've, but I'm speaking for the general public mostly)

    Kane Williamson

I don't know you, but in this case your prediction is going to be semi-right either way (and nobody will care). You pick at supposed flaws he has in his game before he's had a chance to show them, and at the same time say he'll finish with a world-class batting average of 47 - on NZ pitches...
  15. ringo16

    Kane Williamson

Mate, if we get a NZ batsman who averages 47 over a long career, then he'll go down as a great in my mind anyway. I know numbers aren't everything, but I'm not too sure what your standards are really, or how much of an effect these supposed weaknesses will have. Nobody is saying he's the next...

*Official* New Zealand in India 2010

Would confuse the hell out of the opposition batsmen and their planning if we choose that team and McKay, Tuffey and Nathan don't even bowl.

*Official* New Zealand in India 2010

Jamie How is the big name I'm relieved to see there. Really deserves a chance, especially for him dominating the ICC Champions thing against good bowlers, while playing for the worst team. Only selection I have much problem with is Mills not being in the test team, oh well.
  18. ringo16

    Kane Williamson

So hang on... after all this pessimism you still predict him to be NZ's greatest batsman ever?

*Official* New Zealand in India 2010

In hindsight that hiding was the perfect lesson for us - playing good spinners in the sub-continent. Bangladesh aren't that bad, certainly not the worst bowling attack to ever dick us over.

Better Countries at Cricket than New Zealand

    Jacque Kallis.
