Sloggin' Batsman = Good Batsman ?

It's good to see that this topic has brought about some discussion. The point, was not if slogging is an effective technique of batting; we know it is more than likely to fetch one runs, albeit at risk, and thus implied more often in the shorter version of the game, ie. one day cricket. Test...

Sloggin' Batsman = Good Batsman ?

Given the popularity and the amount of One Day cricket played has led to the rise of batsmen who are known to have 'a one day mind set'. We know these batsmen know generally and actually do better when they play best what most commentators also refer to - is their 'natural game'. For instance...

Team Coach can be part of playing eleven (on field)?

Thanks for citing the cases. But does anyone know this to be officially permitted?

Team Coach can be part of playing eleven (on field)?

In yesterday's OFFICIAL match... Rest of the World vs Asian XI, while Asian XI were batting Steve Waugh (Rest of the World coach) was allowed to field while the actual game was going on. He was there for an over or two. Now, I don't recall if that is allowed in an OFFICIAL ODI match, can...

For people in the USA. This match is played live on Dish Network. Here is the info - DISH Network is proud to offer this unique one-day series to help raise funds to support the victims of the tsunami disaster that has devastated thousands of lives in a multitude of countries across the Indian...

ICC World XI v ACC Asian XI, ODI, Melbourne, January 10th, 2005

I saw the Asian XI team group photo...asian XI Sachin was in there...but not Shoaib...but there were reports Sachin might not play...does anyone know for sure?

ICC World XI v ACC Asian XI, ODI, Melbourne, January 10th, 2005

Obviously, since Ricky Ponting is leading the World XI. I believe everyone knows that Ganguly vs Ponting is an ongoing battle...they met in the last world cup final too.

ICC World XI v ACC Asian XI, ODI, Melbourne, January 10th, 2005

...it looks like it could be anyone's game. Don't forget, all these players (in both teams) are experienced players, know the conditions, know each other's techniques and tricks...so you never know.

    Current Most Technically Correct/Sound Batsman

Isn't this a chat forum anyways. I mean you are free to comment if you wish, and if you don't want to, then simply ignore. Why the fuss, over duplicate threads? It's not important for everyone posting to go browse through numerous number of threads to verify if a topic is redudant or not. If...

    Current Most Technically Correct/Sound Batsman

Would have to agree on that one...So, you could be absolutely technically sound and correct, but that's what you end up focussing or preoccupying yourself as a batsman, and lose that extra ability that comes naturally to some people (bradman, tendulkar) ie. to score runs.

    Current Most Technically Correct/Sound Batsman

Don Bradman's mordern reincarnation (in his own words) isn't technically correct...so are we implying something here?

    Current Most Lethal Bowler

Someone who get's your hurt pumping (and you wish you were not the batsman facing), every time he bowls. It's like you could expect a wicket to fall any ball. Mine - Shoaib Akthar.

    Current Most Technically Correct/Sound Batsman

Current Most Technically Correct Batsman Copy book style. Straight from the cricketing batsman manual of shot making. Who is your vote? Mine - Sachin Tendulkar.

Current (not past) most explosive batsman...

I would have to disagree with the EVER comment. We all know what Tendulkar did to the game of one day cricket when he started out. Totally devastating. Any bowler, any where, and with consistency too. But then again, let's not quite get out of context here if you will, lets not talk about the...

    World XI fantasy ODI team

If in a World XI team I have to even think of bowling Tendulkar, then obviously something is not quite right. I also don't expect any bowler to bat either...I leave that role to a batsman or an all rounder. Run's scored by a bowler should be looked as bonus. In fact, with a World XI team, I...

    World XI fantasy ODI team

Funny while putting these top eleven ODI players, here is the break down country wise: Australia - 3, South Africa - 2, West Indies - 2, India - 1, Pakistan - 1, Sri Lanka - 1, England - 1

    World XI fantasy ODI team

Yeah I quite didn't like Gayle at 7 either, but I know Sachin definitely is most destructive opening so I didn't want to compromise his position. Since you mentioned maybe Gilchrist can move to 7 (since he does that in Tests anyway, and we all know he only knows one way to play, irrespective of...

Changes required for the Indian odi side

If you know anything about Tendulkar is - his personal life goal is to win the world cup for India. We know how disappointed he was last time, even while receiving the Man of the Series trophy. One thing I am sure, if perhaps, Ganguly doesn't pick up form and gets dropped, then the only guy who...

Changes required for the Indian odi side

I beg to differ. Perfect example is Australia. Look at the difference in composition of their ODI and Test teams. Because of certain sacrifices (and impartiality) they are simply invincible in both ODI and Test. Just cause Dravid is too good a player it does not mean he suits the One Days. I...

Changes required for the Indian odi side

I am surprised that you guys are even considering of dropping Ganguly by the next world cup. Unlesss something drastic happens like really really bad form or injury, Ganguly would be the next world cup captain. Don't forget, after Tendulkar, he has scored the second most number of centuries in...
