What have Katich and Watson got to do with it? If Hughes is as prolific, and as talented as you say, he surely could bat #6, especially when :laugh::laugh: he doesn't have the technique at the moment, thats why. You want a rock solid batsman at #6, because if the **** hits the...

Johnson bowling resulted in Hughes being unable to handle the bouncer.... Ive heard it all. I never said he was on the verge of playing in the test side. I said he could be a chance at playing in the next tour of england. That is still 18 months away, and not out of the realms of...

Say to the fact? Say to the fact that Mitch Marsh is a middle order batsman and Hughes has, and always will be an opening batsman? (Part of the reason he isn't in the test side atm, or else he would have Norths spot!) What do you say to the fact that Tendulkar batted at 4 for most of his...

Dont let the turth get in the way of a good story aye? Hughes was 19 yrs and 5 months when he knocked the pura cup final tonne,. So Marsh has a year and a half to emulate that feat. Considering he smashed 92 for WA in a Ford Ranger Cup game, not 3 weeks ago, id say he's a fair shout. So...

    Most promising young bowler

There is a bit of pressure on Siddle to keep his spot atm. I don't think Siddle/Bollinger are either nearly as talented as Josh, whom swings and moves the ball off the deck, fairly consistently. Will definately play test cricket, sometime in the next 2-3 years I would say.

    Most promising young bowler

Hazlewood isn't 6"4. He is 1.96m Thats closer to 6"6 than it is to 6"4, and a centimeter taller than Glenn McGrath. Hazlewood has also bowled one of the best spells of bowling in a ODD game this season. 2/22 against a top order of Chris Rogers, Brad Hodge, David Hussey, Cameron White and...

Well, how about I bump this thread........... in 3 years. Because thats the age gap. Im not disagreeing with you about the fact that Phil Hughes is a great prospect, more the fact you disregard the fact marsh could be better all together! Interesting that Roebuck named Marsh as one of the...

    *Official* Under-19 World Cup 2009/10

You're an idiot. Marsh has broken age records since the inception of the new domestic competitions. He has only just turned 18, he has been playing for the WA ODD side since he was 16............ Marsh looks set to be included in the Australian T20 side, thats 2 years sooner than Hughes...

He clocked 138km/h in the T20 for the warriors the other week. Straight back from a back injury? Even so, at 138, he's one of the quickest bowlers in this tournament.

Been given orders by WA not to bowl apparently. Make no mistake though, he would be one of the quickest bowlers in the tournament. Gets good bounce too.

I think 18 months is long enough if he puts in some performances. He will definately be well entrenched in the ODI side by that stage. Depending on North, Hussey may not survive till then. Marsh is a genuine #3/#4 batsman.

    *Official* Under-19 World Cup 2009/10

Mitch Marsh is the best young batsman to come into the Australian system for a decade. Youngest player to debut for Western Australia in over 70 years. Only 18, first class batting average of over 45 at his age Can bowl at around 145km/h..... I don't think he has bowled in the u/19...

    Australian Future

*Facepalm* How old are you, 12? "Pure Cricketer" what the hell does that mean? I reckon a 20 year old opening batsmen scoring twin centuries in his debut series, against the best fast bowling attack is the world, is fairly "pure", or indicitive of talent. Just because of the last test...
