    England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

I confess my ignorance on the recent happenings with English cricket. But why aren’t Foakes and Bairstow being considered?

    **Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

Captain obvious but this is a great opportunity for India to get some miles into the Australian bowlers early doors. No need to lose wickets in the pursuit of a high run rate with so much time left in the game.

Why even call it a prime minister’s XI? Does the prime minister even select it? Maybe it was something done in the past in the days of Keith Holyoake and the name just stuck.

    England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

I can see the arguments both sides but I am sure they will go with Phillips since Steady has always had an inkling for like-for-like replacements. He sees Young as a substitute for a top 5 batsman and Phillips as a spin bowling allrounder.

Waddle and Coney suggesting that Phillips make way in order to squeeze Young into the team. Coney’s rationale is that England bat so aggressively that we will have more time as a batting team.

DoG's Test Team Ratings - Throughout History

Before the series, Australia had 131.75 and India had 127.87. Even if India had won 3-0, it would have only boosted their score to 130.36, such was the massive difference between India and New Zealand. How the formula works: Win: 2.50 Draw: 0.00 Loss -2.50 Points adjusted by the difference...

What’s the NZ mindset? Take the foot off the gas and rest some players or go all out and try to secure an unprecedented 3-0 and get more WTC points on the off chance we make the final? What’s the thinking of NZ posters on here? Do you see this as a free hit with no pressure or do you really...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

True. I guess I chose McCullum this time because he was the more aggressive, dynamic batsman. But as designated keepers, McCullum averaged 34 whilst Watling averaged 39. I could easily be swayed to choose Watling instead if only going by their record as keepers. GM Turner B Sutcliffe KS...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

A New Zealand test XI: GM Turner B Sutcliffe KS Williamson MD Crowe LRPL Taylor BB McCullum (wk) CL Cairns DL Vettori RJ Hadlee N Wagner TA Boult Bond didn't play enough tests to demand inclusion and I like Boult the left-hander complimenting Hadlee. The middle-order picks itself, with those...

Would this be the greatest test series win of all time if NZ win?

According to my points exchange system, this IS the greatest series upset of all-time. In the current series, New Zealand were rated 104.45 and India 127.87. Add on 5 points to India for playing at home and take away 5 points from New Zealand for playing away and the difference is a massive...
