    Was Bradman a jerk?

I wish you were right mate. This though does not come from nerds but cricket's most-respected historian and writer David Frith in what is regarded as the greatest book on Bodyline, called Bodyline Autopsy. The people who have reviewed include Simon Barnes and a host of other well-regarded...

    Was Bradman a jerk?

They did meet. I got the year wrong as I didn't check as sort of trusted what should not be trusted--memory. It was during the Australia's 1948 tour to England when Fingleton and O'Reilly confronted Warner. "In his 1978 biography of Victor Trumper, Fingleton accused Bradman of relating...

    Was Bradman a jerk?

Ian was angry because of two very valid reasons. One that as a player Bradman wanted to make as much money as possible; the anecdotes say that it was clear that he wanted to make money and he did. When he was gifted a decent amount for those times after one of his big hundreds in England, he...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

Agree about Archie Jackson but don't know how to fit McCabe though I want to. Tough to leave Greg Chappell; will just read a bit on Harvey.

Just how yellow is Indian cricket journalism?

Which assertion about Bradman do you want me to prove? The post already makes it clear that the most important thing to remember about average is that most observations hover around the mediocre, the average; the odds of a deviation decline faster and faster (exponentially) as you move away from...

Sehwag will not even make it to an Indian XI, forget opening for the World. Barry Richards is my choice but there are plenty of other great openers and I am cool with another great choice.

Just how yellow is Indian cricket journalism?

Yeah. Have the decency to come up with your own stuff, which means that don't report the guy who posted it originally for plagiarism or trolling. The post was mine.

Just how yellow is Indian cricket journalism?

This is my post. Why should I be penalized for trolling or for plagiarism. That's pretty awful by whoever has reported this.

Just how yellow is Indian cricket journalism?

Never said that. Just said that average is not the right measure and gave a complete explanation for it. Why is Hobbs pretty much the same in wins and defeats, and why is Bradman such so awful in matches lost? Under the model's error before you understand the model. Average is not ubiquitous in...

Just how yellow is Indian cricket journalism?

Not really. You need to understand average first before you can decide a player's domination based on that. I can pretty much prove that Bradman was not even the best Australian batsman of his time leave aside being the world's best. He would never make it to an all time World XI, which Hobbs will.

Just how yellow is Indian cricket journalism?

The reader has to stay and work for this as it's a fascinating insight. Bradman may have remained an enigma if a player like Sehwag had not come along. Against England Bradman averaged 89.78 and Sehwag against Pakistan averages 91.14. Against West Indies Bradman averaged 74.50 and against Sri...
