This post originally had a topic but some of us are wandering away from it (Richard)

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

I am arguing more from the point of view of an Australian fan going to watch the cricket live. It's that very randomness that makes it hard to decide when to go to a game or not. When you pay to see the team play you aren't really thinking about wining the world cup in four years, you are...

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

How many players get rotated out of the English team in a home series?

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

I doubt that giving a player a go in the Aussie squad is what makes them such an overnight success. Years of hard work in domestic crickt does that. You earn your spot when you are ready not before. And as for not enough injuries to introduce new players well how did it happen in the past pre...

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

Sure the world cup is important. It's great to be known as the world champions. But there is a hell of a lot of cricket in between cups. I don't want to be watching experiments for that long I want to be watching the best Australian (and international) teams possible playing in each match...

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

Yes I can understand your point HERO it is good for players to be under pressure to perform and not get complacent. I do however think that international cricket is far to important to be used as a warning for current players to keep performing.

There are stranger petitions out there Mr Mxyzptlk. There is one to have Steve Bucknor retired from international umpiring (it is doing much better than mine though). http://www.petitiononline.com/RetireSB/petition.html

Maybe those up and comers should only get a spot in our national team when they have earned it instead of as an experiment. It sort of takes the shine off being selected for your Country.

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

Actually I was at the last game at the telstra dome. It was anounced that he would be rested. Glen Mcgrath's unfortunate illness with his wife was the only reason he played. Even though about a week before that he said that there was no way he needed a rest as he missed enough cricket in the...

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

Well there were an awful lot of happy idiots watching him bowl in the tri series.

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

Yes but what about the fan who turned up to the game and paid his money to watch Brett Lee bowl but instead gets to watch selectors experiment with someone else.

    Australian rotation (resting) policy

I mean rotating players during the Australian series obviously. I also think while being helpful to other teams it also shows a fair amount of disrespect to them.
