WPUJC Vaas vs Daniel L Vettori

Let's take it this way. Would Vaas make the NZ team? Probably yes in late 90s and then early to mid 00s, when he has a hot run. Vettori with his batting abilities would almost always partner Murali as the 2nd spinner at home, and then later as an all rounder. Considering SL was pretty stronger...

    Kumar Sangakkara vs Steve Waugh

    Sounds more like sour grape.

WPUJC Vaas vs Daniel L Vettori

Vettori probably is the better test cricketer. In ODIs Vaas takes it

    Kumar Sangakkara vs Steve Waugh

Sangakkara. As a pure batsman, no one comes close in modern times.

Paul Strang every day of the week, twice on Sundays over any Zimbabwean spinner, unless you consider John Traicos Zimbabwean. Pace department I will have Andy Blignaut who will provide that wild pace and wild hitting power instead of Blessing. Johnson, G Flower, A. Flower, Taylor, Raza...

Better test bat: Dravid vs Sangakkara

Better test bat: Dravid vs Sangakkara

In Sanga's 230 match, Sami has bettet ERs than Shoaib. Sanga just tore in to Shoaib. That was the first time even as Sri Lankans we saw how aggressive Sanga can get.

Better test bat: Dravid vs Sangakkara

SL lost it by 80 odd runs. Sanga never looked getting out in that knock. 80 was not a big issue given the form he was in. He could have taken quarter of that from a MacGill over.

You are messing up T20 and ODI cricket. Wanindu's white ball stats against difficult oppositions are not that stellar. Although he averages 26, his stats against test playing countries is 34.5 compared to Mendis' 23.

Lara vs De Villiers against pace

Any one would. Even that man doesn't know where the ball pitches.

    Sangakkara or Ashwin in tests.

Sanga and Flower are better batsmen who kept than Gilchrist.
  12. Migara

    Sangakkara or Ashwin in tests.

That means if he has not kept he would have massively averaged more than 57. That makes argument for Ashwin more difficult.

    Sangakkara or Ashwin in tests.

Sanga, no second thoughts. Great batsman and one of the top 3 greatest batsman keeper, if not the greatest. Ashwin is a Great bowler, however not a top rung all rounder. Decision should be easy.

    Shaun Pollock vs Ravichandran Ashwin

Pollock was effective every where with bat and ball. Ashwin is effective in familiar conditions. A Gargantua compared to pollock.

There is a lot of case for Kulasekara as well as Rumesh Ratnayeke. But Mendis is the wild card, when he fires, other side go in flames.

For SL Jayasuriya Dilshan Sangakkara (wk) Aravinda MJ Arjuna Mathews Vaas Murali Mendis Malinga Pathum Nissanka and Asalanka would make claims for the middle order. Problem with us is that all these players played in a very compact time. Other than for that era, cupboard is truely empty for us.

Sehwag vs Lara vs Sidhu against spin

Most of people would agree that there had been players who were better than Tendulkar against pace. They just happened to be pretty below him against spin. So no one is bringing the argument "Sachin is so good against pace than Viv Richards" despite Richards struggling almost against no pacer.

And we need to play away from Galle to get our fast bowlers in to play. Asitha, Vishwa, Kumara, Milan and Rajitha are all fit.

*Official* New Zealand in Sri Lanka

Pretty good series for us, but consistent failing of Nissanka is bit of an issue. He is expected to be the other next big thing with Kamindu. There are issues with other two Mendis'. Although scored a hundred, Kusal Mendis doesn't look as a part of this XI. Sadeera Samarawickrama is a better...

*Official* New Zealand in Sri Lanka

That is the issue. Ramesh is their to do the "job", not "support" it. He puts way more revs on the ball than jayasuriya and is a bigger threat on wickets that spin less. If Jauasuriya wants support, DDS and Kamindu could very well do it. The former will run in and dart the ball on the same spot...
