    3rd Match - Afghanistan v South Africa

SA should've found a way to fit Stubbs in this lineup. He's such a good player, doesn't deserve to be on the bench.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

Imran was an AR in ODIs for like 4 or 5 years max. And his peak is not even comparable to Watson or Kapil or Pollock or Flintoff or Klusener or Sanath. At least in tests he bowled consistently throughout the 80s and was very good with the bat. Jayasuriya is definitely better than Watson. It's...

Yes. Klusener, Flintoff, Pollock, Kapil, Watson is how I would rate ARs unless I'm forgetting someone.

Isn't Kapil way better than Imran? Even if you need a bowling AR, Shaun Pollock seems like a better option to me.

Where do you guys rate Warner among these openers? I found his career to be quite interesting but not really sure if he's in the top 5 openers of all time.

Group A - Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, Pakistan

The thing is that Sachin, Viv and Virat were the bests of their eras. If you draft a current ODI XI, I'm pretty sure you would go for Rohit and Travis Head as your openers.

I wish he wasn't sick during the World Cup. He would've had one hell of a tournament. His first series in New Zealand was when he was 19. And in his second series, he made around 120 runs at an average of 54.

He did have a good record against Starc. Shitted the bed against Steyn and peak Amir though, so I can see where you're going with this. I think he was an okay fielder. And he was able to hold his own running with Virat so that shouldn't be a major issue either.

I'll agree with Garner Rohit as an opener I feel is second to none (except Sachin), with the way he has been batting especially in the past 3 years. I don't really rate 2019 very highly but his 2023 edition was second only to Mark Waugh and Tendulkar 96. Wasim, McGrath, Garner: All 3 take the...

    Rahul Dravid vs Denis Compton

    Has to be Dravid.

Gilchrist, Klusener and Garner in place of them?

ODIs are much easier in comparison. Rohit, Sachin, Kohli, Richards, AB, Dhoni, Flintoff, Wasim, Lee, Murali, McGrath

AB was a bias pick. Sobers was prolly better but I fit in AB because he was one of my favorites. As I said, completely biased and subjective. I already had Hadlee and Imran to take the new ball in my team. Garner was arguably the greatest non-new ball pacer ever and adds so much variety to this...

Pick the ideal batsman for these scenarios

    Ambrose vs akram vs mcgarth

Ambrose was better in the 90s The only argument that you could make is that his record in Asia wasn't as good as Donald or McGrath.

Group A - Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, Pakistan

He's the best new-gen batter but it's too early to compare him to Kohli. Bilaterals during Kohli's period were of much greater value than the ones today. Gill has been a prolific run maker so far but he hasn't really proven himself against the best bowlers in the world yet. Not saying he won't...

    All Time ODI Bowlers Poll

Glenn McGrath Wasim Akram Muttiah Muralitharan Joel Garner, Allan Donald and Brett Lee make really good cases too. I have a serious feeling that Bumrah will make it if he plays some more ICC tournaments and gets to 250-300 wickets.

Symonds vs. Maxwell: who makes an Australia ODI all-time XI?

Maybe but Warner is probably the best ODI opener in WCs after Tendulkar, Gilchrist and Rohit.

My XI is quite conventional. I have absolutely no idea of the players who played before WW2 (except the popular ones) and so I'll just go with this: Lennard Hutton, Jack Hobbs, Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, AB de Villiers, Adam Gilchrist, Imran Khan, Richard Hadlee, Malcolm Marshall, Shane...

    2nd Match - Bangladesh v India

Amazing knock from Gill. I've been backing him for a long time now, and he's coming good. He's the best new-gen ODI batter by a mile.
