Rahul Dravid vs Ab De Villiers

AB de Villiers IMO. What's Dravid's best achievement against spin, 2001 vs Murali where he averaged 47? Made runs against Warne only during the period when he had issues with his shoulder. Didn't do particularly well vs Mushtaq who was probably the 3rd best spinner unless I'm forgetting...

    Anderson vs Root

It would be funny if he surpasses Sachin in runs and ends up averaging 5 runs lesser than him

    Ian Botham vs Sangakarra

Sangakarra IMO Good WK, legendary as a pure batter. Succeeded pretty much everywhere when he played as a pure batter and also averaged 41 as a WK-batter which is better than most wicket-keeper batters. With Botham its once again 1978-83/84 that we mostly talk about isn't it. He played plenty...

ODI : Brian Lara vs Sanath Jayasuriya

Definitely Sanath though Lara was a superior batter

Better T20 bowler: Starc or Boult?

Yeah and that's because teams stopped using Boult at the death long back. Maybe on current form, Boult > Starc but overall Starc was way more useful as bowler.

Group A - Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, Pakistan

Instead manage his workload properly. He's been playing 30-35 international matches every year + PSL. As a fast bowler that's draining af.

Better T20 bowler: Starc or Boult?

Starc quite easily Boult at the death isn't even close to Starc. In PP they are comparable, maybe Boult is better but Starc is toe to toe.

    6th Match - Bangladesh v New Zealand

    Ravindra is ridiculously good man.

    Barry Richards vs Greenidge

Is it the same case with Sobers' 270 as well?

    Barry Richards vs Greenidge

It wasn't? There were some big names, maybe all of them were in the wrong part of their career at that point.

    Ian Botham vs Joe Root

In the sense he was great for longer.
  13. S

    Barry Richards vs Greenidge

Now we see the difference. And Barry also made a 300 vs an incredible bowling attack (that too peak Lillee) so I guess he has a clear edge. Greenidge never did that well against Lillee in Australia.

    Barry Richards vs Greenidge

Who was the better batter in WSC? I remember both of them being top tier.
  15. S

    Ian Botham vs Joe Root

Root batting in the last 4-5 years is like one of the biggest carryjobs in modern day tests. There second best batter averages 32 away from home and that's also because of SA where they barely play any tests. Botham was absolutely terrific in the first 6 or 7 years, but fell off very...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

Brett Lee in place of Waqar? He definitely had better numbers despite playing in a more batting friendly era. And Waqar's economy was a bit high for someone who primarily played in the 90s.

ODI : Brian Lara vs Jacques Kallis

Lara and it isn't close. Maybe you can make an argument for Kallis with his AR ability but I'd rather go for Lara along with 2 part timers like Yuvi and Maxwell to bowl the 10 overs than Kallis.

Does Babar Azam have a chance as going down as the best ODI batsmen ever?

He isn't even top twenty let alone top 5. Even since 2020, I can see at least 5 batters better than him (Gill, Rohit, Head, Mitchell, Iyer are definitely ahead, you might put Kohli and Heinrich Klaasen in there), and this is supposed to be his peak. He's a good no. 3 batter but he's probably...

    5th Match - India v Pakistan

Pakistan don't have the middle overs bowling to pull it back if Rohit destroys them in the PowerPlay. The first 10 overs are gonna be make it or break it for PAK.

    5th Match - India v Pakistan

Pakistani bowling is quite terrible outside first 10 overs. They can't defend anything below 280-290 IMO
