    Old Timers Reverse Order Draft

Tim Horan is probably my favourite ever Australian sportsman, so I'll pick his namesake Tom. Tom Horan (1877)

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

With your namesake, you will figure being born in a certain continent is usually where it starts. :p

Your favorite batsman to watch bat!!!

i am one of those members of this forum who doesn't want to see barry's name brought up in most of the discussions about great batsmen, because those discussions are usually about test cricket and he did not play enough tests to be in the mix. however, his elegance and appeal and his greatness...

Your favorite batsman to watch bat!!!

...tend to agree, however, with Trevor Bailey when he wrote that Barry "did not generate as much excitement as did the brutal strokeplay of his namesake Vivian, but his strokes had the elegance and discipline of a Keats sonnet." If consistent excitement is the metric, I still believe that Viv...

    Australian Domestic Season 2019/20

If only Tom Coopers's part-time offies were more like his namesake's. (yeah I'm drawing a long bow to make this relevant here, shh)

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia 2019

Burns has obviously taken notes from watching his English namesake bat - use the edge.

5th Test at The Oval, London

I think the "doesn't seem" is an unnecessary qualification, tbh. I'm far from big Matty's biggest fan, but he was a few classes above his smaller, even angrier namesake.

    33rd Match - New Zealand v Pakistan

Can we make him a non-playing captain please? This has the feel of a banana skin game for NZ to me. I agree with those saying bring in Nicholls, Blundell and Southee for Munro, Latham and Henry. We really need Sodhi to get a game soon too, imo.

    Make Munro captain for namesake

*Official* England Tour of West Indies 2019

 The point I’m trying to make isn’t necessarily supportive of Mark Wood, but more a case for including a genuine quick bowler to add variety to our otherwise one-paced attack. With the luxury of Stokes and Ali as genuine all-rounders we have four other bowling spots so can afford the variety.

Can’t blame Woodster for supporting his namesake

Definitely bowls a similar pace to Grinning Gus. This would've been the perfect pitch for the eeyoreish old bugger too. He'd have been that imaginary fourth stump outside off all day long. Sigh. Vic Marks notes in today's Observer that Keemo was born two weeks after Gus took 20 wickets in the...

Angus Fraser would have been proud of his namesake doing this damage.

Was Sehwag the greatest player of spin in the hisory of the game ??

His less famous namesake on the other hand, would have probably preferred a joint India-Pakistan team, and an end to aggressive fast bowling.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

I'm curious why you left out Hobbs. Also Khan was arguably both a superior bowler and batsman to Akram. I'll have him at 8. Also I guess the spin XI's middle order needs an out-and-out aggressive batsman which I suppose Lara fits perfectly. Plus he's probably the greatest player of spin recently...

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

...McGrath Jacques Kallis Barry was just recognised by all who saw him as just the best. Lillee ranks him with Sobers and his Caribbean namesake. He has to play. I am a still a little concerned about the cordon, but Viv, Barry and Shane should be good enough surrounding Sobers. The...
