Tremendous show of commitment from a 18 year old

Yeah, that's true. We can't judge this instance because none of us commenting know the family in question and don't know what thought processes Kohli went through before making his decision. I suppose I'm more concerned that society expects and considers it admirable when someone is on the field...

Completely with Fusion and Anil here, especially this post:

Murali praise for old rival Warne

Didn't expect anything different from Murali. He's always been pretty gracious.

Who will be harder to replace - McGrath or Warne

Warne will be harder to replace because the backup spin options, apart from MacGill who won't last that much longer, aren't very close to international standard yet. However, I think the absence of McGrath will hurt Australia more.

    Battle of The Spinners

Move on, no chance for an upset in this round I think.

Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

Good day for opposing batsmen I guess. As HB said, it's not as surprising after the initial shock - both'll go off on a high and on their own terms, before form/injuries force them to retire.

Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

Pretty surprising. It might very well be true (probably true), but I'd like to see an article or something first. Something so big needs some confirmation.

    Warnes 700th wicket - Who?

I'll go for Bell, caught at slip for 23.

Spinner for 1946-2006 World Test XI

^Plenty has been said about that already. Anyway, on just statistical terms, Murali comes out slightly ahead if you remove Bangladesh/Zimbabwe anyway.

    ***Official*** India in South Africa

Your post got me thinking about India's away record in recent times....something quite surprising came out of it - India has a better record in terms of Test matches won/lost than any team bar Australia in the 2000s (before anyone says it, every team has it's record boosted a bit by wins in...

    ***Official*** India in South Africa

 If you're talking about Australia in India in 04, India won the final Test after losing two of the previous three. If you're talking about India in Australia 03/04, India won one Test and Australia won one to draw the series 1-1.

Spinner for 1946-2006 World Test XI

I always seem to get sucked in against my better judgement. I'll take your advice now, if only to avoid tearing out all my hair out of frustration.

Spinner for 1946-2006 World Test XI

Missed the point. The point is that spinners as a whole do not do that well in Sri Lanka, whether they are finger-spinners or leg-spinners. Thus, there's no sound reasoning behind saying that he plays on 'doctored' pitches. Murali has only played three games in Australia and two of those were...
