Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

https://stats.acscricket.com/Records/First_Class/Overall/Bowling/More_Wickets_than_Runs_in_Career.html has the complete list (for players with 50+ wickets). Alf Valentine and Ernie Toshack are a couple more Test cricketers on the list.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

I was wondering if this was an unusual drop-off, so checked the figures for all batsmen who played at least 30 Tests; biggest fall in average from first half of career to second half (for those who played in an odd number of Tests, I counted the middle Test in both halves)...

    The great 1980s all rounders

Certainly he was a FC batsman before he took up bowling seriously, but he took 2 wickets in his first Test* and opened the bowling with Lindwall (taking 9-77) in his second Test. *and technically that wasn't officially declared a Test until 2 years later.

    The great 1980s all rounders

Or for England - Procter IIRC had played for Gloucestershire for so long that he had qualified as English towards the end of his career, although I don't think it was seriously suggested that he play for England (it just meant Glos could pick another overseas player).

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

The overall batting average in pre-WW1 Tests featuring Hobbs was 23.99; for post-WW1 Tests featuring Hobbs was 35.40, which would seem to back up his claim that he was a better batsman pre-WW1. (The figures just in Ashes Tests are slightly higher, but the margin is similar).

Your Country's XI who died during your lifetime

It's not that easy to define: there are obvious cases like Smith, Ben Hollioake, Phil Hughes; but would you include Ken Farnes (died aged 30 during the war, having not played FC cricket for 2 years) or Archie Jackson (died aged 23 having been too ill to play for a couple of years)?

Stokes vs Perera vs Lara Ranking

Not trying to knock Lara's innings, but when Walsh came in to bat they only needed 6 more runs, compared to 70+ for the other two. He added 54 with Ambrose (who scored 12).

    The Records and Milestones thread

Re having a batting average over 40, bowling average under 30 having completed the 1000 runs/100 wickets double: Keith Miller qualified four times (after 33, 34, 35 and 37 Tests his batting average was just over 40, bowling average about 21). Ian Botham qualified once (after 25 Tests, his...
