Things that will happen before the next New Zealand batsman scores a test century...

There are some things that even jinx threads can't do.

***Official*** England in Sri Lanka 2012

Just got back from work. See England have not completely overcome their problems with Asian conditions.

Did Tufnell's fielding ever improve? Is Panesar Tufnell Mark 2?

***Official*** England in Sri Lanka 2012

Panesar is just a crap batsman, not a comedic one, so I think they come out about even.

This must be fairly high up the list of greatest percentage of runs by one batsman. Welegedara is not helping this as I speak.

OK, differing opinions on them. I look at Steyn and Philander and I would swap Pattinson and Siddle for them, no questions asked. Don't think I would swap over for Andersen and Broad.

Commentators here keep saying that Andersen and Broad are the best opening bowling combination in the world. Surely Steyn and Philander, at least, are clearly better?

Vernon Philander - Here to stay, or a Flash in the pan?

I will vote for "flash in the pan" or at least a much lesser bowler than he appears now. All his tests to date have been on pitches helpful to him and I think he will hit a wall when he bowls on non-friendly pitches.

***Official*** Australia in the West Indies 2012

Australia have been losing a few ODIs recently from lack of ambition. They seem to set themselves a low target and bat to reach it.
  10. Debris

    Dravid or Gavaskar?

Gavaskar easily. There is even a case for rating Gavaskar ahead of Tendulkar, although I probably would not go that far. He played against better bowling on worse pitches.

***Official*** Australia in the West Indies 2012

It was a bit hidden behind the size of his scores but he did the same thing in Australia. He doesn't seem to realise that strikerate is as important as runs. He might surprise but does not look suited to playing ODIs at all.

**Official Comm Bank Series - Aus, Ind & SL ODI's***

In fairness to me, all his previous posts on Warner were a really good setup.

Getting stuck into him if he fails twice in the WI is fair enough. Getting stuck into him now just sounds a bit sour.

**Official Comm Bank Series - Aus, Ind & SL ODI's***

Australia must be really confident in their ability to accelerate scoring at the end because they are really stuffing about at the moment.

Might be that is to help get to 100.

Maths clearly not David Hussey's strong point.

    David Hussey: Super Cheat!

My first instinct on seeing this is that it should have been out. It seems analogous to handling the ball. It is a bit harsh calling him a cheat though. All he did is abide by the umpire's decision, which is all you can ask.

One thing I don't get about cricket

Terry Alderman spent most of his time in slips after he stuffed his shoulder.

Has DRS helped spinners the most?

I would say the relaxation in the rules over throwing is what has helped spinners the most, finger spinners anyway.

What to do when 'the greats' retire?

Why would you only pick 5 batsmen if none of the bowlers can bat? Logical way is to go with 6 batsmen and 4 bowlers and get one of the batsmen to roll his arm over for a few, IWHT All-rounder is not that important, most of the great sides have not had one. You do need a couple of the bowlers...
