    Jack Hobbs vs Sachin Tendulkar

http://www.cricketweb.net/forum/threads/3rd-best-english-pacer-medium-pacer.91246/post-5123662 Sunny's peak was from 76 to 83..... Seems familiar? His peak totally coincided with Viv's. Chappell had the media backing and by considering 80s only, Border was better than both Viv and Sunny. Peer...

    Jack Hobbs vs Sachin Tendulkar

...impact are kinda important. But even more so, from '76 when Sir IVA Richards took over the mantle of the best batsman in the world from his namesake, there was not a time when he was threatened until his own decline, and the general though with regards to Sunny was that Chappell was better in...

    Jacques Kallis vs Jack Hobbs

It can be a benefit sure. It can also be a detriment, which is apparently impossible to grasp. Note I never said that a high strike rate was a bad thing. I also said describing dominance in terms of strike rate is silly and I’ll stand by that. I think you could equally dominate an attack by...

    Jacques Kallis vs Jack Hobbs

...a session and was without doubt the 2nd most important factor for one of the two greatest teams of all time, and a session of him and his namesake could (and have) demoralize an attack and set up a victory when the result was previously in doubt. A session of Sobers and Richards can change...

*Official* South Africa Tour of the West Indies, AUGUST 6th to 26th, 2024-- 2 TESTS & 3 T20Is

Bro Brad Hodge would play 150 tests if he was available for selection in this Windies side .. These batters just bring pain and suffering to Windies fans and need a reality check , they are mediocre as **** , they will look good in 1 or 2 innings then go missing for the next 10

*Official* South Africa Tour of the West Indies, AUGUST 6th to 26th, 2024-- 2 TESTS & 3 T20Is

This battle is absolutely exhilarating. Kaveem is much better at handling the short ball than his namesake Brad.

Which players would be locks in every OTHER country’s ATG XI?

Pitches in the 30's and immediately after the war were more than a bit one-sided. Then they seemed to over correct, but probably for the betterment of the game.

Which players would be locks in every OTHER country’s ATG XI?

I definitely think, similar to Hobbs they were both likely at their peak right before their respective wars. (Hobbs obviously peaking and continuing at a much later age) Nah Laver is better.

Which players would be locks in every OTHER country’s ATG XI?

...Simon Wilde claimed that Viv Richards was generally considered the world's leading batsman between 1976 and 1990, after taking over from his namesake. That seems generous. Others were certainly in contention during that long period, including Gavaskar, but perhaps not for long enough to...

Happy to admit when I’m wrong @kyear2 I’m sorry, I was wrong re: your use of namesake. My other points re: Barry still stand.

Very convenient place to crop that mate. If you’ve ever seen the word namesake used purely as “the same name as someone else” please share.

Please look up what namesake means 8-) Andy Ganteaume also is eligible. Why not pick him? Mark Waugh and Michael Bevan both had head to head FC careers with Steve Waugh and smashed him. Which of the three will you pick first?

Debate thread for 2024 Ranking of batsmen poll

How? Lillee and others from the era directly compared him to Viv, how is that conceited? You're reading way too much into this. He played test cricket and hence he's eligible. He also had a head to head career with Sir Gordon, my first cricketing hero and, and out performed him. Why would this...

Debate thread for 2024 Ranking of batsmen poll

The namesake comment reeks of it mate. No. This is about test cricket. What we have to go on are tests, unlike Barry. This is exactly what I mean when I say bias. You ignore all these other cricketers who have similar cases - and aren’t “niche” players who you wouldn’t know, especially after...
