Maybe too strong a word, but we didn't lose. 😛

    Highlights of the games

USA athletics dominance was ****ing cool. Women's 4X400 was insane if you look at how far of the track length our runner ended up being by the end. And basketball dominance in a year where we were told the world has totally caught up to us, and we'll be lucky to hold off all those superiorly...

    Olympic Basketball

Might just be a generational thing. He literally is that terminally online gen z-er, except about a generation older, and in a lanky 7 foot basketball machine of a body.

If you trained for five years…

Why are we letting the posh gits the benefit of the doubt on this one? With adequate motivation, and nothing else to do but commit oneself to learning dressage, why not? Once again, it's the horse that does the work, you just need to put in the preparation work to coordinate and lead it, and...

If you trained for five years…

If I absolutely had to dedicate myself to one of these for 4 years to compete and save my bloodline or some ****, I think equestrian sports where a horse is doing a main part of the work instead of me would be the best bet.

Worst Sport/Event in the 2024 Olympics - submissions

800m is by far my favorite Athletics event to watch. It's so middle distance, with all the compeling elements that brings.

Worst Sport/Event in the 2024 Olympics - submissions

    That's the part that's wrong.

    Kumar Sangakkara vs Allan Border

Shouldn't have hired Brook's Side for mine.

    ***Official 2024 Olympics Thread***

They were really hard up for medals this year. Even sent a pedo. No respect for me for any of their accomplishments this Olympics with that kind of ethos.

    ***Official 2024 Olympics Thread***

A longstanding reason as to why this is literally the worst event in the Olympics. 100% of events are this way. (Although equestrian events need to give medals for horses, and I refuse to watch any of them until they get comically oversized ribbons to place them around their necks. Justice for...

Yeah, the whole controversy was always dumb, and racist. This **** needs to be sorted so that African athletes aren't simply facing discriminatory abuse for years to come. It's honestly disgusting.

    Olympics Athletics

Hocker ended up running a race better than any time Ingrebrigsten ever achieved. And Kerr also ran a PB, not to mention Nugese. There were just some phenomenal speed and running shown by the other runners, so the the "strategic failing of it" seems to me to be likely overplayed. On another day...

    Absolutely spot on!

    Olympics Athletics

How so? He wanted to frontrun, and very accurately predicted needing a close to WR time in order to do so successfully. Just didn't seem to have quite enough on the day.

    Derek Underwood vs Lance Gibbs

I've got Underwood, Kumble, and Jadeja, all in the second tier of modern(ish) spinners after Murali (at the very top), Warne, and Ashwin. Gibbs for me, while very reliable, just didn't seem to perform as a transcendent weapon of a spinner in terms of penetration. Which is what Underwood...

    Olympics Athletics

I believe women's foil fencing, men's four rowing, and men's skeet shooting are the most legitimate Olympic events. Think we should just count up the golds from these most perfect and representative events and anoint the nation with the most the winner for this Olympics.

    ***Official 2024 Olympics Thread***

We all know that Gold at all cost, is just the Chinese Olympic team approach for individual Olympic sport specialization. Is that really the model that countries like the US or UK want to follow? It seems like a lot of pointless hand-wringing for countries that honestly are highly successful in...

    ***Official 2024 Olympics Thread***

To be fair, US has also topped the Gold medals table as well as total medal count for every Olympics since Beijing 2008. And even by any reasonable medal weighting criteria (6:3:1 for instance) other than gold only, the USA would currently be at the top at this Olympics as well, even with less...

The Great Allrounders in County Cricket

Yeah, I have to conclude somewhat that Botham's bowling seems a bit overrated ( maybe even a bit lucky in Tests, although won't go that far personally ). Even during his cherry picked peak in CC, he's falling noticeably short of all of Imran, Dev, and Procter ( let alone the goated Hadlee ).
