Peter McGlashan - Drinks Duties on Tour: Tales of an Inexperienced 12th man

haha, James Franklyn....I think the other enigma from that list was Jarrod Englefield...very talented player, but hopelessly underperformed at domestic level.

Yeah hard to see Scotty getting back in the mix at this stage. It would have been unthinkable two years ago to leave Styris out of the side..but there ya go...it's not like he's completely lost his ability either.

I'm loving the New Zealand limited overs side at the moment...so many multi-skilled players coming through.

I too have been interested by this guy Monga and his blog on Cricinfo. It seems he has a complaint everytime he writes something. I hope to meet the guy when it's time for media sessions in Auckland...

***Official*** New Zealand Domestic Season 2008/09

In the legendary words of bowls commentator Stu Scott "It's shake hands time" in Lincoln. Pretty good effort from the "Emerging" side, clearly held their own against their more seasoned opposition.

He hasn't been batting at #3 for New Zealand. And his form is also dire at the moment...he'll have probably 1 or 2 State Championship games before the test series to prove he's up to scratch.

Is Dale Steyn the worst ever best fast bowler in the world?

That's a pretty big call if you ask me.

Is this for tests? if so, How won't be there on current form. Swap him for McIntosh and it's also uncertain whether Flynn will be there, I reckon Elliott will get another chance in tests.

I forgot to add Jamie How to that list, despite his current form...his ODI stats aren't all that bad with a century and seven fifties at 34.4. AND, Daniel Flynn...though he's found the shorter form a bit of a struggle so far.

In terms of the younger guys coming through: Hamish Rutherford, Kane Williamson and Trent Boult have been impressive. Corey Anderson's had a disappointing season so far but he's still only 17.

Interesting to see some of the NZ lineups being picked...there's no room for the likes of Scott Styris, Jeetan Patel or James Franklin who's been doing very well in the State Twenty20. It kinda disproves the nay-sayers who thought NZ had no depth left. Test cricket is still a problem, but in...

Elliott seems to be a bit of a Kallis if you ask me. Perfect for the 50 over format, but is too technically correct for the Twenty20's. They needed Franklin and N.McCullum in ahead of him. It's a bad way to finish for Elliott because he has been impressive. But im not sure i'd pick him for...

Yeah, the ICC's been spared two times by the Black Caps recently. ON this ocassion in Perth and also in England with the whole Elliott/Sidebottom run out controversy. I wonder what would have happened had NZ not gone on to win either?

Auckland closing in on Australian signing for Twenty20

haha it could be Ricky Ponting..he's not doing anything for the next 2 weeks!

Auckland closing in on Australian signing for Twenty20

That wouldn't work as they want someone to be available should they qualify for the Champions League.
