*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

As many as five ducks for India today, and still people say Ben Duckett hasn't inspired India!

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Has a good record once he actually gets in, with the caveat that he’s much better in the first innings than the second

It was a terrible toss to lose, though the bowlers (if not the fielders) have kept England competitive, and at 211-2 you have to say England were on top. Leach did outbowl his opposite numbers in the first Test, but it’s not necessarily about that, as you say, England’s batters are at best...

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Anyway, as always, while there is Root there is hope. Pope has passed 20 too, usually when he gets that far he cashes in (first innings notwithstanding!), and hopefully the deeper batting will help us

Bazballing is unlikely to result in a win, it’s arguably the reason for why England got into this mess in the first place, but on a pitch doing things in the 4th innings, it’s worth a go as playing normally will likely result in a heavy defeat anyway

A target of 250-300 would still be hard, don’t get me wrong, especially in these conditions, but England like chasing, taking the game to them would suit better than simply blocking and losing wickets anyway

Game on? A 250 target is on

Finding signs of life on the pitch last week was like trying to find Life on Mars

This is the best partnership England have had since Root departed…

Or against Sri Lanka when everyone else around him perished early and he was the only one to offer any resistance?

It feels churlish to say it was a big chance to beat them at home when they haven’t lost to anyone since 2012 when we beat them, but they were missing key players. You have to say Root, the most proven top level bat of the lot, has learned from that tour, the others seem to have one gear, though...

In fairness, the pitch now is different to those games, particularly the last Test and Rawalpindi 2 years ago, pancakes suit us down to the ground, but when the pitch does things it’s a fair question to ask whether we should tone things down a bit

Not quite time yet to start smacking it all over the place considering Carse is a borderline all-rounder and Potts can hold a bat, but he has form for such innings the last time England collapsed against Sri Lanka. Still not impossible England can reach Pakistan’s score, and while that would on...

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Not been able to follow England’s innings, was it a matter of batting poorly or the pitch doing things? Going from 221-2 to a position where Pakistan are likely to have a first innings lead seems to suggest it’s more of the former

Enjoy the record while you can Joseph, Cherrington is coming after it!

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Aamer is an all-rounder, Noman is a much better #9 than the muffins Pakistan have been playing there of late, he’s got a Test match 97!

Murali’s record will be under threat too!

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Listened to the opening hour, there seemed to be enough in it for the spinners early doors, think England will have to go big (as in the usual sense of the word, not necessarily as big as last week!) in the first innings to force the win (barring a Pakistani trademark collapse that is!) as the...

Indian Cricket Webbers, what’s the nearest Indian Test venue to Pakistan? Does that play in any way similarly to these decks?
