*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Hmmm I don’t know, it makes sense but I’ve definitely heard of it having a detrimental effect in regards to first class cricketers. Bharat Popli played a season in the UK right after being named domestic cricketer of the year 5/6 years ago and he reckons because of the wickets he was playing on...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Am I the only one that just doesn’t see a test opener in Rachin? Admittedly I haven’t seen a lot of him but he just looks far to loose to succeed there. Now if he was batting at four or five that’s a whole different story but…

*Official* New Zealand domestic season 2022/23

Yeah Blundell is a waste at seven, although I don’t think Smith with his numbers is anywhere good enough to bat there for New Zealand right now.

He has a career first class average of like 30, and he’s been averaging less than 20 with the bat just last first class season. He is and was never good enough to be a test match number 7.

I know everyone goes in about the elbow but genuinely believe his hand eye has already started to go. I thought after giving up the captaincy he’d be back in the gully, or maybe even slips but we’ve seen him stay at mid off, deep square, generally where you park your worst. The way he’s been...

Why are you posting about a kid we won’t see for at least a decade

Its definitely a senior player thing, and it’s stretched back a long way, even before Stead tbf although he’s taken it to the extreme. He made one big call back at the start of 2020 when he dropped Southee for Henry in the Sydney test (which was ridiculous) but since then he’s been loyal to an...

So is Stead I’ve long given up posting about Stead and his absolute incompetence, I mean it’s been going on for 3 years now. But is anyone surprised Wagner hasn’t been moved on? Stead along with Larsen have been ‘loyal’ to an absolute joke. Until Wagner hangs them up he’ll keep getting picked...

He wouldn’t be near the squad if they did have a problem with him. But let’s be honest, the whole ‘cracked it’ culture has always been pretty rife in sport.

Which we all know except for the coaching staff apparently. As I always say you’re better to lose a guy a year early than a year late. Should’ve been cut before last summer.

Was always going to play. This NZ regime never going into a test with a massive tail come on now

But Boult owes NZC nothing IMO. He’s put in over a decade of quality work. He’s had two potentially career ending back injuries while playing for them, and come back better both times. It’s time to make his dosh while he can.

    *Official* England in NZ 2023

I don’t know if it would hold up at all, legally and what not. But could NZC when it comes to selecting Under 19 teams, get them signing contracts where they are committed to New Zealand cricket for say 10 years. I mean NZC invest a lot of money into them, can’t have guys at 21/22 taking off and...

Those are pretty small sample sizes tbf there Steve, three games this year and only four last season. Like I said he isn’t the player he was in his mid to late 20’s but he’s definitely better than those numbers.

    *Official* England in NZ 2023

Kuggs isn’t the player he was 4-5 years ago, especially with the bat where he was averaging 50 plus with the bat two seasons in a row. But tbf to him he’s barely played much first class cricket the last few years so using his record against him during those seasons is hardly fair But still...

Can thank the equal pay crap for that. Instead of paying the men what that should be they have handed it out to the women to look “good and progressive”

If he could stay on the park I’m sure he wouldn’t be to far away. Kristan Clarke is another one, probably 18 months away but he’ll play international cricket for 10 plus years

Come on now, Nicholls is definitely going to be there. These country bumpkins just showed there hand by putting him on the one day team when he hasn’t scored descent runs in years. I honestly have no excitement for this series. Stead and Larsen have literally run this team into the ground...
