Longevity and easier batting position. I will concede ABD is better quality but not the better career.

This. ABD the better quality, but underachieved a bit. Miandad the better career although they are interchangeable for me. Something like Warne, Murali.

actually De Villiers made meaningful runs that led to many victories away from home so he's probably the better career too.
