It certainly makes it much more interesting when they're competing that's for sure.
Having said that it's just not the same without the South African teams these days, hope they can eventually get involved in the comp again.
100%, I used to wake up in the middle of the night to watch the Hurricanes play over in South Africa. Its certainly a massive loss and shouldn't have been allowed to happen.

I stupidly was still awake at 3.30am Saturday morning and watched the Reds v Highlanders game - pretty scrappy from both at times, but with moments of really nice skills - Hodgman destroyed the Highlanders Scrum, not sure if he's Wallabies eligible as recall comms saying he was a capped AB, but he certainly did a number on the scrum when he came on. Damon Murphy (ref) I thought was a bit...awkward with his calls, seemed to go through 10 minute phases of favouring one team then the other, was hard to get a read of how he wanted the breakdowns to be played.

ARU better hope he is; Wobblies capped him off the bench against Georgia last year.

Incidentally Les Kiss is the best coach's name ever. Sounds like what Madonna and Britney shared at the MTV awards back in the day.

I totally missed, that, I'd assume he is then - I really need to get back to keeping up with it all alot more - became so disenfranchised the last few years.

I watched the England Women yesterday in their opening 6 Nations game. A much changed side was very slow at the breakdown against a battling Italy and the second half was a painful watch. Still, got the job done comfortably enough, but they'll need to improve significantly (I suspect they will) against stronger teams.
