Who is the best old ball bowler of all-time?

Digging up a 2 month old post to question subz on his choice on the poll 😂 . Why don't you go head 2 head with him on some topics as @shortpitched713 suggested in the other thread.

Greatest Bowling Series: Harbi vs Hadlee vs Imran vs Barnes

Can't think of a batting equivalent off the top of my head. But greatest batting performance in a series is probably Lara 1999?

Greatest Bowling Series: Harbi vs Hadlee vs Imran vs Barnes

Harbhajan having probably the greatest series ever by a non ATG bowler.

Dale Steyn & Kl Rahul Vs Sachin Tendulkar & Ishant Sharma

Well, it depends what part of Ishant's career you are choosing. If its the first 6-7 years, it's easily Steyn and Rahul. If the latter, then Ishant and Sachin. Overall I find it hard so will go with Steyn because he's an ATG bowler and will likely take wickets of both Sachin and Ishant

    Imran Khan vs Allan Donald

I guess he would consider Vinod kambli > Tendulkar too

    Shane Warne vs Dale Steyn

So why didn't any of his contemporaries or anyone before him who played in similar conditions average anywhere close to what he did?

    Shane Warne vs Dale Steyn

Again, players are judged against their peers because that is who they play against..no batsman in the history of cricket was so far ahead of his peers than Bradman was to his. Doesn't matter if Bradman played in the 30s, he was just so far ahead of everyone that nobody has replicated anywhere...

    Shane Warne vs Dale Steyn

Yes, but we look at performance against peers. That is where the players actually play, not in some mythical future or past. The 2000s had a large proportion of batsmen averaging over 50 where even the likes of Mohammad Yousuf ended up averaging more than Viv Richards but given the era...
