The why did you vote for Imran, it's not a nationalistic vote, it's the best World XIshortpitched713 said:I picked Marshall and Imran. Though if nationalistic bias hadn't gotten in the way, i would have picked Marshall and Garner. Gotta think that you'd have to go with two West Indians, considering how dominant they were in this era, and how large of a role their pace bowlers played in this dominance. Heck, each of Garner, Holding, and Marshall could be considered the best from this era.
Actually, I wasn't thinking too much about my vote at the time. I don't feel its that bad of a choice though, to be honest. Just feel that in retrospect there were better candidates, and in my hurry I overlooked them, which might not have happened if they were Pakistani. And to say that nationalistic bias plays no role in these polls is a little ridiculous. If that were the case, how do Garner and Holding have a combined 5 votes, whereas Lillee has 12?!aussie tragic said:The why did you vote for Imran, it's not a nationalistic vote, it's the best World XI
Actually, I think I'd prefer to have 4 pace bowlers, with Sobers, Richards and Border providing the spin options. This would allow Marshall, Hadlee, Lillee and Garner to all be selected
Yeah, I agree on reflection however how difficult is it to pick only three from Marshall, Lillee, Hadlee, Garner, Imran, Holding and Thomson. It means the 1966-85 2nd XI may very well have a better pace attack then the 1986-2005 World XI (i.e. McGrath, Ambrose and a fading Imran)shortpitched713 said:As far as the four pace bowlers idea, I personally don't like it. The side would suffer too much in the subcontinent, and on turning pitches in general. You gotta have a specialist spinner, IMO, and I think there are quite a few good ones to chose from in this era.

You should get all your facts before you slander an all-time great. If you look up the stats, Lillee only missed one subcontinent tour (a 3 test series against Pakistan in 1982, not sure why)BhupinderSingh said:Why Dennis"The Greentop Bully"Lillee has been included in the poll? The guy failed miserably on subcontinent wickets & avoided touring subcontinent many times because he knew that he would never succeed there.
All I can say is that u r an idiot, complete crackpot & a ******.If stating facts is racism in your eyes, then yes I'm being racist.Matt79 said:Dictionary definition: Racism.

True. He's got even worst record than Mohammad Sami & AA in subcontinent.Fratboy said:Lillee getting so many votes is a joke.
Yeah he must be as he took over the record of most test wkts in 1981 and held it until 1985 (which happens to also be within the period here) and he still holds the record for the most wkts after "x" tests for numbers 44 to 64 Tests.Fratboy said:Lillee getting so many votes is a joke.
Charming.Bhupindersingh said:All I can say is that u r an idiot, complete crackpot & a ******.If stating facts is racism in your eyes, then yes I'm being racist.
I really like McGrath,Botham,Hadlee & some others who all have the same race as Dennis"The Greentop Bully"Lillee.
