I didn't watch enough of the World Cup in any degree of concentration. Today I was there, and the only player more anonymous than him was Jermaine Pennant.

He's been woeful for an entire World Cup
Most the England team were like that though.

Main exceptions being Lennon, Hargreaves, Carrick, Joe Cole. (I've almost certainly forgotten someone)

Pains me to admit it but perfidious Ash was ok too.

& Carrick was exceptionally average, I really dunno when he played well in the WC.

He played well in the one game that he got.

Ecudaor? I don't think he did, myself. Sparyed one or two passes around, but they got more joy down the middle than either Sweden or Portugal did when Hargreaves was there.

Kinda begs the question why ManUre paid £18 mil (or whatever it was) for Carrick when they could've signed Hargreaves for about half (at most) & he's a far more similar sort of player to Keane.

The price for sure was too high for him, but having seen him at Tottenham over the past few seasons if he can emualte that form for us, in the end he will be wort all that Fergie has payed for him.

No he won't - he's yet another example of Taggart making an error in the transfer market by overpaying.

27.5Mil (think that's right) for someone that didn't set the world alight in England.

Ouch.

i know but not this time i hope

i remember 7 years ago being at the manor ground watching oxford play crystal palace (venebals was coaching palace) we went up 1-0 then lost 4-1... then last year i went to a pre season friendly Oxford vs Brighton and Hove we won 3-1 great memories including a ripper of a goal by Robinson. I came back to Aus then i looked once we were near the top of league 2 i blinked and relegated.

You can say the same for Chelsea.

The only reason why Didier Drogba got sold for that amount of money was because of Chelsea's rich's, when Drogba had one good season (not a very good or great season) in a league where it's standard is no where near of that of the EPL, Serie A, La Liga.

Anyway last night Chelsea can be beaten, and in their bogey team Liverpool in Cup matches and Crouch was again the hero for the Reds.

If they can turn their form they show in Cup competitions, then perhaps they could really challenge Chelsea, and they have the have a pretty good squad on paper as well, and if Chelsea do some how implode, then I think Liverpool would be the best team out of Arsenal and Man U and the rest to win the league. However the chances of that are minimal, but stranger things have happened in football.

However i think it will be:

1/ Chelsea
2/ Liverpool
3/ Arsenal (depending on who they sign, if anybody before the window shuts and if Mr Cole joins another Cole at Stamford Bridge and Reyes gets moved on as well)
4/ Man U

I think if Arsenal can get a left back and centre back, and a good one, then they will have all the players they will need.

Apparently Liverpool have won all their competitive games since March, except the FA Cup Final which was drawn 3-3 but won on penalties

Optimism is quite high round here, but I could care less, give me Shuker and Greenacre over Pennant and Bellamy anyday. The bluenoses are optimistic this time round as well, so a relegation battle beckons for them

Didn't Shuker come through the Man City youth systems and ended up at the mighty Rovers via Barnsley?
