Reading were one goal short of becoming the only (I think?) to score 100 points and 100 goals in a Championship season.
And the season before that Sunderland got 100+ points in the Championship...

Seems logical that a 25 year old would cost more than a 30 year old.
Not when one is one of the top 2 or 3 in his position over the last decade and the other is fairly limited in what he can do and unproven at anything above top half of the Premiership level.

12 points and 24 goals less than Reading, they were nowhere near as dominant. Wigan had a higher GD, both scored more and conceeded less, than Sunderland that year.

No they didn't.

They got 105 in 98-99. Only three teams beat them, including Tranmere :D

But in the 04-05 season, well I don't know how many pts they got, but it wasn't 100+

I apologise, it was 94 points, but they still were far and away the dominant side that season, and were promoted ages before the season ended.

Without investment they were woeful, and as yet, Reading haven't invested in anything of any real note.

The likes of Lita will not worry Premiership defenses overly.

Might not have been 100, but they finished 20+ points ahead of yer Irons (who, IIRC finished 6th, a source of ire amongst my Ipswich-supporting mates) & look at what's happened to the two clubs since. Div 2/Div 1/Championship (second tier) form not the best guide to Prem longeivity.

I'd like to see Reading do well tho, as they have the ex-U's legend Dave "Don't Call Me Ginger" Kitson in their ranks.

well he has been, not surprsing really to be honest but i dunno looking ahead of Euro 2008 if Becks shows some decent form in the next two season at Madrid i won't mind having him in the sqaud with his experience. But thats a long way off.

Looking at the squad Mclaren has picked, with King, Rooney, Carrick, Owen, Cole, Green out for various reasons & Becks & the big Sol axed, i am ok with SWP, Dawson, Ashton, Defoe, Bent & Foster there. But why is P Neviile, Richardson & Jenas?. Whats up with Woodgate, Parker, Nolan or Reo-coker?, come on Steve..

Because they're actually decent players and he feels like giving them a chance. Might have a point about Nolan though.

I'm surprised Robert Green is still at Norwich, I would have expected him to have moved up a Premiership club. Maybe Man City could be his new home since they have sold David James to Portsmouth?

If any Premiership club is after a new goal keeper and can afford his wages Gigi Buffon is said to be available for 13m pounds.

clubs are probably reluctant to make a move for green due to his injured status, not to mention the fact that he is overated, his shot stopping isnt bad, but i feel there are other aspects of his game that are very weak, which is why top clubs have cooled their interest in him.

No, they're not.

Neville is a mediocre utility player, nobody knows what Jenas does, and Richardson is tripe.

Quite how Beckham is suddenly deemed a worse player than that sort of person (as well as SWP!) is beyond me.

It's all about McClaren wanting to distance himself from Sven as much as possible. Understandable in a way, what with his being Sven's assistant & all, but (as you correctly suggest) possibly baby with bathwater time.

Struggling here with injuries.

McNamee (right back goes off injured) after 6 minutes.
Virgo (centre back/striker) replaces him then goes off injured after 18 minutes.
So now Trinidad's finest Chris Birchall is at right back!
