urgh did i......must be imagining things py...ahem....well i have been to rotherham, and looked down on the entireity of sheffield from a great hillside, that said, both are crap towns. Personally i think parts of lincolnshire, where you are native to py are harsly treated, on my holiday to parts of it two years ago pothas and i decided that it was quite a nice place, the bits we saw anyway, but then we didnt venture near skegness or your hometome.

Dewsbury/Batley/Heckmondwicke = Probably the worst conurbation in Yorkshire.
Especially seeing how they voted in the BNP...

on a more football related subject, ashley cole was left out of arsenals official team photograph for the season, looks ominous, despite chelsea saying they have broken off negotiations, this looks to me like a fairly good indication that the move is still on.
Nope, I've been reliably informed that he's joining Coventry in exchange for Marcus Hall.

The other rumour is a swap of Stern John for Thierry Henry.

If that was the CM2 97/98 version of Stern John that'd almost be a fair swap.

Obafemi Martins almost looks certain to be playing for Tottenham or Newcastle in the next few weeks with Inter having now signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

As for Sheffield, they have had the Artic Monkey's on Triple J here in Australia, and what is with the accent? Other Yorkshire accents are fine, but their's was terrible.

Tottenham have enough half decent strikers surely? More likely for Martins to go to Newcastle, especially with Owen injured.

As for the Artic Monkeys, underneath all the hype is a very average band.

I find French accents quite scary.

John Terry has been named the new England skipper. Good choice and I think he will be a better leader then Beckham. Initally I thought Steven Gerrard might have got it, but I think JT is right move now.

Anyway so what is people's tips for this season? I think unless something drastic happens Chelsea will more then likely be winning their 3rd Premiership in a row.

Champions: Chelsea
CL: Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal (not in any order)
Hard to disagree with that, unfortunately. The three in CL spots all have their weaknesses but should still be able to hold off Tottenham.

Relegated: Watford, Reading, Sheffield United
Odds of all three going down are very slim. Reading will stay up and do well. Originally I had penned Wigan to go down after the loss of Bullard, Roberts and likely loss of Chimbonda but Landzaat and Valencia have been two decent signings so that tips me in the direction of Charlton to join Watford and Sheffield United. No Curbishley, Bent will struggle to re-create last season's scoring form and they are signing up as many premiership flops as they can get their hands on.

Highest goalscorer: Thierry Henry (Piscine will ljust love it)
With no RVN, barring injury, quite comfortably I'd imagine. Shev only scored 19 with 5 pens for Milan last season and he won't be helped playing upfront by himself with an entire midfield (Lampard, Ballack, Robben anyway) who's first and generally only reaction is to shoot when they get the ball.

Biggest surprise package/s: Newcastle, Portsmouth
For Newcastle to be a surprise packet they would have to qualify for the CL for mine. After a shocking start last season they came home strongly to finish 7th.

Reading is my surprise packet.

Biggest flop/s: Middlesborough, Didier Drogba
Charlton, Shevchenko (if scoring 15 odd goals would be deemed a flop)

Best player: Frank Lampard
If it's to win an official award the nominees have already been announced - Lampard, Gerrard, Henry or Rooney. Take your pick

FA Cup: Liverpool
Chelsea.

Carling Cup: Newcastle
More plastique for Man United.

Well Reading the new Wigan then with an owner who has plenty of cash in his bank account to fund his team?

And to avoid a permanent ban by James I think West Ham will do well again.

The similarities are there.

Reading were one goal short of becoming the only (I think?) to score 100 points and 100 goals in a Championship season.

Wigan did well with bargain basement signings to add to the likes of Baines, Bullard and Roberts. Reading will have to do the same to finish in the top half like Wigan did last season and I don't think they have signed anyone much so far, only Sodje as defensive cover.

Charlton will be mid table easy, i actually think their signings have been decent. Traore may not have been top class at Liverpool but he did ok and will be good enough for Charlton. I wouldn't really call JFH a premiership flop either

Traore is terrible and I was thinking more of Faye than JFH.

JFH scores goals wherever he goes yet still always gets the boot, I like him, but age is catching up.

Manchester City can be my second surprise package. They seem to have the odd/even year thing down pat and should shoot up the table a little.
