as far as making sides go, from the top three sides in history, I think Walsh would make The Invincibles and Waugh's Australia while Kapil would make the mighty Windies side, especially the late 80s one.
I don’t think Walsh would make the Invincibles, like, assuming its relatively early in his career, would he have been able to prove himself over Toshack, Lindwall or Johnston?

The fact that Kyear can't even entertain the possibility of them being in the same tiers baffles me.
You've got to be kidding me. I've seen you rip into players over and over again who everyone else on here more or less considers to be class: Ashwin, Kallis, Lara, etc. Yet you are here castigating kyear2 because in your opinion, he underrates a player you fancy. Wow....

I mean, not like we, including kyear, leave Subz alone for his Ashwin or Lara or Ambrose takes either really

Stats of bowlers selected for the Invincibles tour before the tour.

Lindwall 10 matches 38 @ 18.42 2 5’fers
Toshack 8 matches 36 @ 17.36 3 5’fers 1 10’fer
Miller 11 matches 27 @ 20.85 1 5’fer
Johnson 9 matches 26 @ 21.80 1 5’fer
Johnston 4 matches 16 @ 11.37

There isn't a large gap between them as bowlers and 20 extra runs are just a plain plus
Their away averages constitute a very large gap. Got to remember that bowling isn't as volatile as batting so an average differential of 8 runs is huge.

I think Walsh was a better bowler by a large margin.

I meant that Gillespie and Kapil aren't that far, Gillespie was a bit better imo but seriously overrated by stats at face value, I think Gillespie averages 27.5 without Bangladesh/Zimbabwe bashing and that's 2 less than Kapil in a much more favourable context to him.

Oh right. Sorry. I think Gillespie was better as a bowler.

I at least back up my opinions with arguments for why I rate the prayers so. Arguments that you folk often end up agreeing with even if you still rate the players the same.

Umm no. We agree with?? The polls say different. For example Ambrose vs Imran away. Imran lost. And most on here considers Ashwin great, you don't.

As for Dev, again I'll say this, there's no guarantee that him being in a stronger attack like 80s WI would lower his average. He very well may or he may end up like a Patrick Patterson or Kenny Benjamin who both averaged around the same as Dev even while bowling along side greatness

Kapil fulfilled his potential as a bowler. He didn't have the physical materials to be world class.

With the bat, he had the opportunity to have better output considering his home conditions were fine. Batsmen without nuanced tempos just generally are very volatile.

Walsh over Kapil is not an unreasonable opinion and Kyear should not be getting belittled for it.
Never said it is. Kyear is the one belittling here for Kapil over Walsh, over and over, again and again. Gillespie being a better player than Kapil though is worse than any of Subz's takes on any of them

My general opinion is overall Dev is below Walsh. Why? Because Walsh is a great bowler whereas Dev is a good bowler and decent batsman. About who would make a team over the other. Well that depends on the make up of the team. A team already with class bowling but thin on batting might benefit from Devs batting. A team slim on bowling but with class batting would probably benefit more from Walsh. A team with class batting and bowling would pick Walsh be he doesn't diminish the bowling that much. Dev included would diminished both batting and bowling (relative to each other).
