for me, anybody who rates Gavaskar over Hutton is a man with great personality.for me, that thought process is utter nonsense

this Gavaskar vs Hutton chat is making me nervous, let's go back to Gavaskar vs Sutcliffefor me, anybody who rates Gavaskar over Hutton is a man with great personality.
Gavaskar vs Sutcliffe is noway closer than Gavaskar vs Huttonthis Gavaskar vs Hutton chat is making me nervous, let's go back to Gavaskar vs Sutcliffe
say that Sutcliffe, Gavaskar, Tendulkar and Hutton are all very close to each other and maybe your Gavaskar close to BAB take would be more acceptable.
Agreed.Gavaskar vs Sutcliffe is noway closer than Gavaskar vs Hutton
I suspect “not outstanding but pretty quality” in Ames’s time was plausibly better than “not outstanding” in the late 90s or 2000s, and generally what I’ve read is that Ames was an excellent keeper, just not on the level of the keeping greats in later eras, such as Bob Taylor or Jack Russell. Not exactly sure how both of their keeping measures up - in the same region I assume, neither were ridiculously outstanding but both pretty quality. Gilly easily the better bat imo.
Ames was much closer to Knott than Gilchrist as a batterI suspect “not outstanding but pretty quality” in Ames’s time was plausibly better than “not outstanding” in the late 90s or 2000s, and generally what I’ve read is that Ames was an excellent keeper, just not on the level of the keeping greats in later eras, such as Bob Taylor or Jack Russell.
But I don’t think there’s much between them. Also worth considering Knott, for being a better pure keeper than Ames or Gilchrist while still being a decent bat.
@capt_Luffy I'm waitingsay that Sutcliffe, Gavaskar, Tendulkar and Hutton are all very close to each other and maybe your Gavaskar close to BAB take would be more acceptable.
They kinda are, but Sutcliffe not that close as well@capt_Luffy I'm waiting
Oh, why do you reckon so? Very hard to compare across such substantially different eras, but seems like a hundred first-class centuries is worth more than Knott—who was certainly excellent in tough situations, but was more of a reliable No. 7 or 8. (I’d certainly guess Gilchrist is a better bat overall than Ames, to be sure.)Ames was much closer to Knott than Gilchrist as a batter
Yeah Sutcliffe is what you wish Trumper was! They kinda are, but Sutcliffe not that close as well
Ames is better than Knott, but not by a huge length. He averages 28 vs Australia, the only team with a proper Test standard attack he faced, which is lower than what Knott does vs them WI. Also, 100 Centuries his commendable, but his FC average is also just a shade above 40Oh, why do you reckon so? Not as much as you ig.all better than Grace, **** Grace fans, I know two Grace fans and both are stupid.
Hutton vs Gavaskar is much more of a debate than Gavaskar vs Sachin tbhdidn't we have this convo? for you even Gavaskar vs Tendulkar is very arguable, while it's incomprehensible for me
