2024–25 NZ domestic season

for reference CSK are regarded the strongest home T20 sides, they've won 23 out of 31 but they're also literally the best T20 side of all time

weirdly ND are pretty much 50/50 at bay oval which I didn't expect. I guess they don't actually spend that much time there so it's only symbolically a home ground.

Only 8 out of 18 at the Mount (2 in 2 in Whangarei). Their lack of hitting power sans Clarke/Hampton still places a massive weight around their neck imo

yeah I don't think teams spend enough time at their secondary venues to get much home advantage

might be part of what makes CD so good when they're good, because they're forced to cover all bases to win

The arrogance of that Canterbury attack is beautiful. Nah we reckon we'll knock you off so we really just need 5 batters. Also 2 of those batsmen can roll their arm over if it's needed, but it it won't be.

In the womens game it seems that apart from the select group of players that can bat well and smack the ball into gaps, many are just looking to give the ball ‘a big whack’ first and foremost with no effort to hit into areas that are absent of fielders….and therefore often end up hitting the ball straight to fielders.

Kasperek's injury is a big blow for the Blaze in a scenario like this, IMO.

Jetly too, for that matter. Both are pretty difficult to score off.

‘Farcical’ and ‘comedic’ are words that have been used to describe some of the running in this game. Rigour is incredulous, then laughing.

The whole premise of the commentators argument about how the Sparks can win is that Otago can just knock the ball around, hang in there, and at some stage they will be able to up the ante. Whereas I’ve seen no evidence in the womens super smash this year that the vast majority of the players can up the ante. A great individual score in these womens matches seems to be something like 30 off 36 balls.

“This chase is still regulation by T20 standards” says Sumo.
You cannot base your assumptions on how the mens teams play Sumo. You’d think he would have learnt this by now, or is he trying to fool the viewers(?)

Even without Devine, Plimmer, Kasperek and Jetly, it's looking like a sixth title in the last eight years for the Blaze. Just an amazing team.
