Hungry Llama

U19 Debutant
Impressive first day for Oz, decision to open with Head paid off, KWJ back to his best, 3 spinners starc and webster, but the conditions are so sultry, surely some hope for the quicks to swing the ball?

Best average at 10000 runs
Ponting-58.72
Tendulkar -57.61
Smith-56.44
Sangakkara -55.96
Dravid-54.42
Now show them by runs per innings....That's why average can sometimes be misleading. Ponting averaged almost 7 runs more than BCL but took innings more to reach 10,000. And fwiw, Sachin almost filled his belly during the flat era for bowling like everyone else. In the 90s when bowling was tougher, he did ok to decent vs the better attacks.

Sachin Tendulkar in the 90's vs Top 7 teams

66 Tests - 5523 runs @59.38

Test Average at Home : 2453 runs @59.82

Test Averages away from home :

Australia : 49.75
England : 74.77
West Indies : 57.80
New Zealand : 49.75
Sri Lanka : 111.66
South Africa : 36.91

*He never got to play Pakistan in Pakistan in the 90's only 3 Tests at home which admittedly he didn't do well in but then again his average at home is ridiculous in the 90's. If anything Zimbabwe actually bowled better to Sachin than anyone else in the 90's ..

In 3 Tests he averaged 25 Against the Zimbos ..

Sachin was a beast in the 90's ..And he was only 26 when the 90's ended which is mad when you think about it.

When I said top teams I meant Australia, RSA, WI and Pakistan. The other teams around had attacks that didn't really compare to these 4. Sachin was very good vs WI and Australia. Poor vs RSA and decent in the 3 tests vs Pakistan.

What a day it could have been had Sri Lanka not missed their chances

- Head plumb lbw for 23, not given, not reviewed
- Labuschagne missed run out on 3
- Khawaja dropped on 54
- Smith dropped on 1
- Khawaja caught for 74, not given, not reviewed
- Khawaja dropped on 90

Yeah this is why I'm not fully convinced about the "it's a massive road" claims. SL created plenty, despite bowling (and planning) like dog poo, but if you don't take the chances you create then the scoreboard won't reflect that. Good for batting but for how long?
