Yeah then WI definitely have a better pace attack. Good luck for Aus in Perth. His team:-
Trumper
Hayden
Bradman*
Smith
Border
Miller
Gilchrist+
Lindwall
Warne
O'Reilly

Don (the captain here) had both O'Reilly and Grimmett in his AT XI (allegedly), definitely in his 30s team's backbone. He did rate O'Reilly the best Ever and Warne really high.Well I am assuming it's your average Aussie captain and I doubt he will opt for no third seamer. Unless Miller is a fifth bowler which again I doubt an Aussie captain would go for.
WI would get murdered in Sydney.Yeah then WI definitely have a better pace attack. Good luck for Aus in Perth.
Only that, where AUS has a way better spin department and better batters. O'Reilly would surely shine on flat tracks.Yeah then WI definitely have a better pace attack. Good luck for Aus in Perth.
That's just one pitch. The rest will favor the better pacers. Ambrose, Holding and Marshall are all deadly on Aus pitches.WI would get murdered in Sydney.
Spin really only comes into the game later on, unless it's a first day turner. And even then WI have the bats to counter Aus IMO.Only that, where AUS has a way better spin department and better batters. O'Reilly would surely shine on flat tracks.
And even if you added Lillee, does that make the pace attack better than that of WI?
Just something to note, putting Miller at no.6 compared to a giant like Sobers at no.6 for WI massively devalues your Bradman advantage. His team:-
Trumper
Hayden

Gilchrist+
Lindwall
Warne

And replacing O'Reilly by Lillee somehow changes up everything?Just something to note, putting Miller at no.6 compared to a giant like Sobers at no.6 for WI massively devalues your Bradman advantage.
WI have better openers and Smith and Border are behind Viv and Lara. Gilly will be matched up with a proper worldclass bat like Walcott as keeper.
So unless it's a spinning wicket, doesn't seem like Aus have much advantage at all.
Lillee should be there over Lindwall as he was simply a better pacer. But ultimately it doesn't matter as WI will still have the better pace attack especially suited for Aus pitches. And replacing O'Reilly by Lillee somehow changes up everything?
Melbourne as well. That's just one pitch. The rest will favor the better pacers. Ambrose, Holding and Marshall are all deadly on Aus pitches.
No way does spin matter more than pace there classically.Melbourne as well.
Hayden will be a walking wicket against the WI attack. I would like to see him try to step out of the crease and hit Marshall over mid-on.I thought we had all advanced beyond being fooled into thinking Hayden was an ATG and not an FTB.
O'Reilly and Warne will be better there WI quicks. No way does spin matter more than pace there classically.
#SCGSoSpinnyWI would get murdered in Sydney.
That’s why I leave out the ATVG openers and put in 6 ATG batsmenHayden will be a walking wicket against the WI attack. I would like to see him try to step out of the crease and hit Marshall over mid-on.
That's cheating though lol. That’s why I leave out the ATVG openers and put in 6 ATG batsmen
Definitely not Warne. O'Reilly is a maybe but again they aren't doing anything on a day 1 pitch.O'Reilly and Warne will be better there WI quicks.
But they eventually will play in a day 3-4 one.Definitely not Warne. O'Reilly is a maybe but again they aren't doing anything on a day 1 pitch.
By which time much of the game may already be decided. And it's not like Marshall, Ambrose and Holding are any less deadly in the second innings. But they eventually will play in a day 3-4 one.
